Dise was a large, substantial solid black with excellent temperament. In her later years, she formed a special relationship with one of the cats and the two were inseparable right up to the day she had become so miserable with the worsening effects of congestive heart failure, that the decision had to be made to release her from the shell of an earthly body that had finally become nothing except a constant burden to her. That day, Dise and Pixie, her soulmate cat, spent the entire day together, as if they both knew that Dise's final journey was at hand, right up til the moment the vet arrived to conduct the final release of Dise's spirit so that finally she was free of her old earthly shell, free to gallop and play in the world of the spirits that stretches boundlessly just beyond the reach of those of us who still remain earthbound awaiting the journey we all too must take.
