Hello
I need some help and am hoping some of you out there can help me.

We are still working diligently in the USA to obtain separate breed status for the White Shepherd. I have been asked to find the answers to a few questions.

1. What is the position of the SV regarding the establishment of the Berger Blanc Suisse as a distinct breed?
        a. Has the SV ever issued a formal statement about this?
        b. Does anyone know whom from the SV I could contact t obtain this answer?
        c. Is there someone who is fluent in English and German who can help me contact the SV regarding this?

2. Which FCI countries in Europe and elsewhere allowed the white coated dog to be separated from the German Shepherd Dog breed to establish the Berger Blanc Suisse/White Shepherd breed in their country.
.

I think it's one of the worst things the FCI did to our breed. We NEED the colored german shepherds, because there are way too less diffrent bloodlines in only white! People shouldn't want this. This is a posibility for the future, but it's bad for now. The breed is too new.

Most of Europe recognise the White Swiss Shepherd...

From my knowledge, I don't think the SV has made any official statements regarding the White Swiss Shepherd as a separate breed.

The minority countries that recognise whites still officially as GSDs are:

The UK (allowed to breed under the KC)
Australia (only if coloured parents throw a white - but it has to go on the LIMITED register and not be bred from)
The USA/Canada

So the vast majority of countries around the world (Europe is huge) recognise the breed as White Swiss Shepherd Dog.

It's very unfortunate I think, because I have seen first hand the qualities that I have bred into the breeding program of whites by using excellent coloured dogs.

Each to their own though I guess.  Everyone is entitled to their opinions and preferred style of GSD...

Same thing happens within the GSD community too... Working lines vs show lines between different regions and countries.  It's a never ending debate....

Wrote you an e-mail on Sunday! Let me know if you have more questions.

Anyway please write a message about the path you're going to take. I'm just curious to know ...

The main reason why there is the breed "Berger Blac Suisse" is because the SV NEVER agreed to re-integrate the Whites into their standard. There is NO White German Shepherd since the early 1930s. It still only exists in the US, UK and down under.

The SV didn't oppose the BBS breed-recognition within the FCI. I guess, they really didn't care, since they didn't want anything to do with the Whites in the first place.

If you need any help , please send me an email.

I'm happy, that Northamerica is on the way to work towards breed-seperation. It's the right way to go!!

cheers,
_manu.
