From The Kennel Club Calendar and Stud Book, Vol. III, 1876 for the year 1875:
4910.  Gaiety-Mr. W. Gillett's, North Bar-Street Without, Beverley; Breeder, Mr. J. Holmes; whelped 1873.  Pedigree: By Gayland out of Gadfly, out of Holderness Topsy, sister to Lille (No. 666, Vol. I.).  Chief Performance: Alexandra Palace, 4th prize.

This is a dog pedigree, used by breeders and breed enthusiasts to see the ancestry and line-breeding of that individual dog. The pedigree page also contains links to the dogs siblings and progeny (if any exist). For dog owners with purebred dogs this is an excellent resource to study their dog's lineage.
