Dog1

Getting settled a little after the show. Lots of new and exciting changes to the Community.

The first GSDCA Sieger Show was put together in a couple months. Purina Farms is a great dog event place. A little hard to get to if you are coming in from Germany. Overall, it has everything. The event was well organized and was put on without a hitch.

The first thing I noticed was how easy it was to enter. A few years ago, you had to be a lawyer to enter. Rule changes, membership requirements, 4 generation pedigrees, certifications, co ownership, etc, etc, Entries were stifled because the paperwork was so complicated, most, myself included had a difficult time figuring it out or helping others get it straight. Times have changed. The WUSV affiliation has torn down some barriers. It's easy now. Just enter and if you have any questions, Joy is there to help. The GSDCA is very user friendly. They are also offering free membership. Rather than post the details here, if you're a WDA member and interested in becoming a GSDCA member, PM me and I'll send you the details.

The entries. Around 185 show entries. Really good for such short notice. What I found interesting was the type of entries. The entries came from individuals and medium groups of breeders. Mittelwest was the large entry kennel, the rest were about 4 or less. In attendance were some old, some new, some small and some medium. It was a show where everyone had a chance. You can see this in the results. This is an environment where the community can grow.

Judges, both excellent choices. Both very in tune to the working aspect of the breed. Mr. Konig still trains, handles, and shows his own dogs. Each sieger show we look to the judges to instill their expertise in the results and offer their opinions as to which are the top specimens. With these judges we have reliable placements. Correct proportions of VA ratings with substance in the results. One thing that stands out worth mentioning is how it appears the work ethic is being factored in. First two males were 5/5 in performance either here or at the world level. The judge announced the VA2 male was the father of the VA5 female who was one of two recipients of a performance award in the working female class. These types of judges are paying attention, they know and hope you will know too.

Working female class was an exciting class. Two top contenders, two quality females and a young, quality, performance girl to round out the VA.

This event was just what the community needed and the community responded. Look for it to grow next year.

Dog1, where can we see the results?  :)

by Richard Medlen on 09 October 2014 - 17:10

Results are posted on the GSDCA website under 2014 Sieger Show.  The entire catalog is displayed with each entry's placement listed.

I second what Dog1 said.  Fairness, impartiality and camaraderie were the watchwords for this event.  It didn't matter who you were or who your dog's breeder was, you got a fair, and impartial evaluation and a proper rating.  There was no big I and little you at this event. Politics and political hacks were not to be seen or heard with these judges and show officials.

I want to give a big thanks to Cindy, Ed and their crew.  They did a great job.

I can't wait till next year.

You can also find the results here at GSD Events Online - http://gsdeventsonline.com/Results/Event_Results.php?mtxteventid=+NDg5

Clicking on the name of the dog will display a new screen with multiple tabs:  Dog Info, Show Results, Progeny Results and Pedigree.  For the Working Dog classes you will be able to see the Hip and Elbow ratings for the Working dog classes.  You will also be able to see results for all other shows the dog has been entered in as well as Progeny results and a 4 generation pedigree.

The GSDCA show in St. Louis was well ran. I have been to many NASS and UScA SS. Some are ran better than others. I would like to thank everyone that made this show happen on such a short notice. The judging was excellent. I have never shown under Herr Goldlust before. What an informed judge. We had normal Sieger Show weather...sun, rain, wind, hot ,and cold. A great group of people attended this first show. No complaining  or moaning just people helping people. I felt the same way about the UScA SS in May at the same complex. Good food and drinks were had by all. I recommend the small town of Eureka for the people that will attend next year. One thing that stuck out above the other SS was the fast posting of the results for each class. The results were online before I got my dog back to car. Whoever was the webmaster did a superb job posting real time results. ...Mike
