Windmill German Shepherd in North Texas. One of my favorite sables snd not even a mature adult in this picture well I guess I'm not sure how to post a pic but go to their website. They have been breeding too show GSDs over 25 years

West German Showline Sables are very rare dogs. Very few exist and are products of a small group of breeders that A. Had an interest in the sable color. B. Had access to the better examples for breeding.
The first breeder in the US to promote the sable color was the Vom Silbersee kennel with their association with Vom Haus Dexel, the owners of Timo Berekasten. This kennel had quality females that were sent to Germany to be bred to Timo and a good number of high quality sables were introduced to the US through their efforts. Some descendants may remain but the quality would be diluted at this point.
As previously mentioned the sable color will either be a descendant of Champ Dakota or Timo Berekasten. Sables in the US will be descendants of one of two dogs. Happy Fichtenschlag (Timo) or Waiko vom Schaumbergerland (Champ). Being female the offspring from Happy is limited. Waiko was used extensively and his sable descendants continue. The two most prominent kennels that produce the pure West German Showline are vom Haus Huro and von Nader.

there are quite a number of West German sable showlines in Germany, the Siegershow had quite a high percentage. Last year Sieger longstockcoat was a sable, Grizzly vom Herbramer Wald. This year Sieger longstockcoat was a sable, Mongrif Legacy. And the V 21 dog stockcoat is a sable, Quentin vom Fichtenschlag. And quite a few German showline breeders breed sables, Ducati and Falan's just to name 2.
