So far SASTOR best bite work. Who is going to question he can't do the job ? This dog is a full package, so far best VA dog.

Good job Finn. One of my top three. Too bad he got sent to the back of the line.

Finn also excellent job, little dirty player, but I like that . Confident, no looking back, very nice job Finn.

I see many very pessimistic opinions here. After watching all VA group I am not so pessimistic any more. We have few very nice dogs here. Few I don't care for ,and to me shouldn't be VA title. Those which I like have what is take to get the job done. They need more control ,but this is not really as impotent as many think. Out there are many service dogs (Police Dept) where the handler many times can't control the dog ,especially at the attack to call him off. To me these dogs I would breed to without any hesitation .
The best consider temperament ,confidence , and willingness to work was Sastor, Finn, Quenn, Willy, Asap and Kasper.

OS,
If by having what it takes to get the job done, you see police dog material, I seriously doubt there is dog at the BSZS that could work as a police dog or PP dog. I am willing to better a helper with strong presence who actually delivered a stick hit would run most if not all of these dogs and even the pressure in trials such as the BSP is nothing compared to what a police dog will see in a major city such as getting kicked in the head.

apple
if you don't see any of these in the ''standard of the breed '' below in those dogs I mention, than you are blind.

The German Shepherd Dog must be well-balanced (with strong
nerves) in terms of character, self-assured, absolutely natural and
(except for a stimulated situation) good-natured as well as attentive
and willing to please. He must possess instinctive behaviour,
resilience and self-assurance in order to be suitable as a companion,
guard, protection, service and herding dog.

The standard talks about the dog being protective when demands are placed on him. There are no demands being placed on him. He is just playing a game of tug.

apple, it's not like i'm arguing your view but you must admit - among distant relatives those ones most closely resemble GS dogs.
at least by phenotype ;)

anyway, it's a friday. have nice weekend everyone :)

I don’t have a pessimistic attitude, just a realistic attitude of what the VA dogs are. The somewhat strong dogs are an exception rather than the norm....if I am supposed to be optimistic about that, well the breed will continue in same direction.
Also, some of us have trained dogs extensively for a very long time, it is not difficult to see dogs that APPEAR strong but in reality aren’t. Just saying.
