When I shipped my male from Czech last year that was about what I paid. He had to go in a 500 crate due to his size which increased the amount to $1150.00.
Per his bill of lading he shipped from Czech to Frankfurt and then flew from Frankfurt into Dulles. He left Czech on Monday landed in Dulles Wednesday night. In that time he was walked a couple of times, fed and basically taken care of so he was comfortable with all that traveling. He arrived freshly bathed, in good spirits, safe and sound with no trouble getting through customs.
The $1150.00 was worth it.

The only thing I can add is that make sure shipping done during the early part of weekdays .Most U.S .custom will close around 5 pm on Friday and if for any reason flight was late you will end up paying more for boarding him till Monday .
