But if it takes a really good dog trainer to train a dog, isn't that the definition of hard to train?

What, Jeffs, you mean any old shit trainer can get SOME good results
out of an 'easy' dog, no matter what the mix ???  I'll buy that !

Of course, you need to know enough about dogs to realise that different
dogs vary in their trainability in the first place.  Did the OP ?

One of the problems with mongrels / 'Designer cross-breeds' is, of course,
always that while you might have a good idea what a purebred's temperament
and trainability is likely to turn out to be, as soon as you import an outcross
into the mix you lose that degree of certainty.

Ask any experienced breeder of a northern breed (Husky, Malamute) about their opinion of crossing one of their breed to an Akita (or a GSD) and 9 times out of ten you will hear it is not a good idea if  looking for an easily trainable dog. If you're looking for a challenge or think you can defy the odds by getting a dog that is naturally biddable, then it might be a good choice. As with everything in nature, there are a few exceptions.

Because of posts such as that I am not allowed to walk my dog with a group of dog walkers as she may "bite a dog or person".

Hmmm.. Being a crossed bred mongrel, HOW do these people who organize these walks / groups know what breeds are in your dog? If you are worried about your dog being shown prejudices due to his breeds, why not just say, "Oh he's a mixed breed, some type of Husky cross, or Akita cross? Seems to me that your dog has done something to not be welcomed.. I see groups, training clubs, etc, that have all sorts of breeds, Pit types, bull dogs, mutts, whatever.. I've never heard of a walking group banning a Husky / Akita, just based on the breeds.. I seriously hope this was a one time oops kind of litter, and not being purposely bred, as one of those fine, rare, designer dogs :/
