Never be put off because it may not be such a great area? There are Crooks and Thieves everywhere and i bet the Thieves that Congregate from Spain and Poland  etc will be there in Gangs They make a living going to such events and as you know my expensive Camera was stolen in a flash when watching the 2010 WUSV? Just keep your money in separate pockets and well covered by other clothing to make it as hard as possible for these cretiens. But the main thing is to go and enjoy the even It does not come to anyones country that often
. Me i can  take a bit of roughing it for a few days if i am watching the Dogs working, that,s what i go for not French style or Gourmet food.

Excellent, RPG--that is exactly the type of information people need--especially the proximity of the other hotels.   What type of bridge needs to be crossed to get to the stadium?  Is it high, over a river, suspension, etc.?

 Steve1,

When it comes to areas, there is bad, and then there is dangerously bad.  When USCA first sponsored the WUSV in Boston in 1998, it was in one of the worst areas in the country.  The shuttle busses that were "supposed" be shuttling from the host hotel to the stadium were non-existent, because no bus company would send any of its busses or drivers to that area.  Taxis did not come into the area at all.  The police advised people NOT to go there, when they cops for directions.   Even the car rental company whose ads brag that "we'll pick you up" refused to pick up potential customers there.   They very nicely told me that they would be happy to rent a car to me, if I came to them, but they were "no way in hell coming to Roxbury."  Regular Smile

Ha ha...I was at Boston...yes the area was an absolute shithole....still is...the Soccer Stadium where this event is being held is a nice place...then again, I am around this area a lot!

Ron, pm me your phone number.....folks there will be no more problems with danger at this WUSV than was at the other two....and I was at both of them. All of the hotels are in good places and the stadium fairly new and in great shape. Hope to see you there!

RPG....Thanks for the info.....the host hotel is sold out so I've been looking at other accommodations close by.

The reviews are all about the same for the Comfort Inn....Wyndam Garden....Red Roof Inn...and Courtyard by Marriott. Based on the reviews, it sounds like most of the hotel's in the area are in need of renovation.

The Comfort Inn was going through renovations in June, so some negative reviews about that, but the beds were rated comfortable and the hotel clean.

The Wyndam Garden's reviews are good..most stated nice hotel with courteous staff....Denny's within walking distance.

The Red Roof Inn.....I've stayed at these while on business travel and always found them to be clean, comfortable and priced right....However, based on the reviews, which were older, not sure I would stay here. Mystere is right just because one hotel in a chain is good doesn't mean they all will be.

The Courtyard by Marriott...is a little farther north and east than these hotels (about 3 miles).....but the reviews were all good and the price is reasonable.

Mystere.....Glad to hear nothing wrong....Thanks for the info.....hope you change your mind come Teeth Smile.
