I'm not going to do it, but I could very easily find photos right here of Va dogs with very similar heads. Maybe not quite as extreme as this dog but  very clear indicators of what was to come. It's in the genes, baby.

I wonder where his stock came from...if the parents of this dog were Ko'er and titled and had high structure ratings. If this is what I am supposed to be striving for.....I would quit the breed. I bet this dog is very closely related to a lot of the dogs of apologist on this forum....smh.

I'm betting that there are plenty of koer'd and titled dogs behind this dog. Why don't you ask this guy to see the pedigree? It should be no surprise to anyone with GSL's that this was just around the corner. A dumbass like me with only 18 years in this breed saw it coming and talked about it here a few times - those big blocky apple heads with short heavy muzzles, too much stop and hanging flews are going to lead to dogs that no longer look like or behave like a GSD.  Bad bites, missing teeth, overly soft palates, round eyes, no patent airways, dogs that sound like freight trains. I've seen it happen in another breed.

Need proof? Do some work and look at  photos of the Va dogs from the German Sieger from the last 20, 30 years. It's not rocket science. The trend has gone from the athletic look of a Dingo to a dog with a big bulky head, too much stop, hanging flews, short legs and frog like rears. People here just love to beat up on the ASL's but what is happening to the German show line is far worse. Wake up and smell the coffee.

Use this dog as a guide to what you don't want to see produced in the US. It's happening here too. I hope the WL people don't take this an an opportunity to dump on the show line breeders. Most of the GSL people have already left here, give them a break this time and let them have this thread for a positive discussion (If they want).

Are there still photos on this board of the past Siegers?

Dingo is what I consider the the best!

I've been told that "Bravo's head is horrible he will never place in the high V's and I should sell him", ....but he has the drive, temperament, clearheadedness that every GSD should have. Training him is a joy and living with him is even better. I've been told that Jyota has a "table back" and shouldn't be bred, but once again, the drives on that girl are out of this world.....and she produces this in her pups. Unfortunately so many of my breeder friends start out with "massive head and bone" it makes me want to puke.

If a dog has to look more like a mastiff frog mix to place as a VA, I want nothing of it! I'd rather place low then sell out to the "soup de jour" crowd.

I know exactly how you feel, SM, I've been told that my ASL is a piece of crap too but she has more titles and health clearances than most of her critics' dogs and has produced well beyond my expectations. I'll take an athletic dog without a lot of show ratings over a  highly rated, overdone, ponderous dog any day of the week.

C'mon now Blitzen, these dogs can't be out of real German doggs, they seem to be the "only ones" that know how to breed correct dogs!
Didn't you hear?
