Lucky
German Shepherd Dog: An adoptable dog in West Milford, NJ
(Lucky is not going to be so Lucky unless someone with experience is willing to take her :-/ )

Large • Young • Female
Lucky is a young (2.5 yrs old) GS with a good disposition with people. She is not well socialized to be around other dogs unfortunately. We don't think she saw much outside of her back yard in the past. We will not adopt her to anyone with children, no exceptions. She needs to be the only pet in the house at least in the beginning until her new adopter can do training with her. Lucky is a beauty and worth coming to meet if you are looking for a new best friend GS!
Spayed/Neutered • Up-to-date with routine shots • House trained • Prefers a home without: young children

I hate it when shelters give an evaluation that is this generic......is she shy, is she aggressive.....what is her behaviour problem with other dogs? Is there anyone there that can get this dog out of the shelter to give a true evaluation of her, off property? She may just be overwhelmed by the shelter and losing her family....... as we all know, GSDs don't do well in this environment to begin with!! This sounds like so many evals by shelters that don't know the GSD breed and do not try to find out more about the dog. Evals like this can cause a dog it's life!

I am on phone with Julie, what she meant in her post was- can anyone evaluate the dog out of the physical shelter building, itself, perhaps  on the surrounding property, away from the building itself to give her a true temperament eval and let us know your thoughts. That might give a better evaluation. She cannot pull this dog as she is slammed, right now. The way this ad is worded gives this girl no chance for her ever to get out. Is her description a description of how she is acting in the shelter or is it a description the owners gave of her, IF she was an owner turn in. It doesnt say if she was a stray or owner turn in.  We are wondering if she is just upset being in a strange shelter environment which is how many shepherds behave in a shelter- they get sensory overload and meltdown.

Thanks Marjorie........yes, we are overloaded here.....but really want to see this girl have a fair shake. I wonder who did her evaluation in the shelter....was it someone qualified to even do a temp test or a kennel worker reporting what they saw a scared/confused dog exhibiting from being thrown away like someones trash.

An adoptable dog in Milford, PA
Cherry Blossom
Wow! Now here is one beautiful black and tan German Shepherd mix gal. Needing a home familiar with the breed and accustomed to handing a large peppy pooch, at 3 Cherry Blossom is still very puppy like in her behavior, being full of vim and vigor. If you can devote the time and attention to the positive training she needs and the exercise that lets her work off stea...
m, Cherry Blossom has the potential to become a remarkable companion. Given her activity level she is best suited to a home with no small kids. Talk to the shelter staff for suggestions on how to help her adjust to your household, then let her steal your heart with her beautiful good looks and outgoing personality.

Just been catching up here. What a fantastic job.....that poor boy with mange - so glad he is safe, and Shakira and the others too. Wow.

Good job you are in the US, there are one or two here (at least) where I might find my finger operating all on it's own to try and adopt without my knowledge LOL.

My name is Chico. I am a 2 yr old male black/tan German Shepherd. My owner left me here on Sept 24

I share these photos to help get these dogs seen and perhaps find homes. I do not work for the shelter nor do I rescue, pull or do chipins. If you are interested in this dog, please contact the shelter directly to find out its availability. NOTE: Pit breeds are only getting 4-5 days before they’re killed so those are always urgent!!
