VKGSDs

I thought it was kind of funny.  I've never trained with this guy and hell if I'm going to judge him based on two minutes of obviously biased footage.

It kind of reminded me of back when I did gymnastics.  You were *always* stupid and slow and fat and a moron and a waste of space, lol, and I couldn't blame imperfection on a dog.  The day we weren't getting constantly lambasted meant something was *really* wrong!

by ILGSDs on 23 January 2012 - 03:01

I think they reuploaded the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLxfDBFNbTQ

I have to say I found it entertaining.  I would train with him.

I think your silly video may have had the opposite effect from what you intended.

Now I want to train with Steve H even more...

He is hilarious.

I see a couple people that I know have been with him for years in the video. Not sure why Denise would take the time to put this together then post and run. They were in the same club in Harvard, IL years ago.

Fortunately Steve has been around long enough for those that know him to understand. My first encounter,,,he told me I had a good dog but I was her problem. Need to be stroked, please don't go to Steve. Need you/your dog trained. Look him up.

GSDguy08... Think of Steve AS the Gordon Ramsey of the dog world, but working with less experienced people. He does what he does and says what he says to wake them up and change them for the better. Dog training can depend on a moment. He says what he does to get through to people right away. A dog can pick up bad habits or incorrect positions or timing if a handler does not do things at a moments notice. A helper or handler can be injured if the handler is not listening and paying attention. Don't beat me up for this statement because I am one myself, but show people may not understand these things as much as working people and may be a little more lax when they handle a dog. And newbies with very drivey working dogs can be dangerous, so it CAN be necessary to have a helper like Steve. So what if there is swearing. No one knows what context any of those cuts where in on the video other than the people there. It's a vendetta one person has with him, wanting to make him look bad, but you can't take anything from that video alone without seeing the rest of the sessions to know WHY he said what he said.

Does that answer your question?

I know there are trainers out there willing to smile and talk nice to people who want to have fun and be praised.  They dont swear because they are too busy keeping the saliva in their mouths thinking about all the $$ training sessions $$ your going to need.

I could not view the  first video and in the second one I had Brian Adams singing to me so I only watched the work.... and I like what I saw! That man knows dogs and he works for the dog!

My helper throws things at me sometimes when I have an off day handling... dearest friend one could ask for. The good thing is, we can choose who we work with and if people don't like something, they can find somebody else.
Happy training, I had a great day without getting hit by a stick, my helper decided to kill me by having me do tons of running left turns today! And then he called me to make sure I am ready for more next week.... :o). While he drills me, he sure laughs a lot when I trip and face plant it here and there. He told me that the handler can't be more scattered then the dog!

I am done crying now!

@dog1 (Randy)
Since you mentioned my name I can respond to your accusation. I did not make or edit that video it was sent to me by someone else. I trained with him years ago for a short time one on one not years, he was a member of the same club I was, not happy and left. He never talked to me the way he has to those people in the video, he knew better. I have witnessed his training with others  in the club, if people like that kind of training go for it. I still have a few images in my head that I will never forget.

I posted the video because it makes the great training helpers out there look bad and it makes the sport look bad. Does anyone really think this video is a represenation for the youth in the sport. I was very surprised to see this on youtube but not surprised who was in the video.

If anyone else has a comment to me pm me.

If I lived close enough, I would train with him. I'd rather be told when I'm f-cking up, then do the same thing for years and not know any better.......
