Ambii, maybe that is a bit of a strong word, mongrel will suffice, apologies to any one I have offended.
Noddi, health wise we are doing great now, thanks. Now I myself have bred a litter with 5 long coats, so I do not have a problem when they appear in a litter, I personally love long coats, almost kept one of the puppies I bred. I do have a problem with anyone who breeds solely for these out with the standard coats and colours, simply for the money these supposedely but falseley claimed " rare" puppies will bring them. In my opinion the only thing that makes them rare is that no discerning breeder wants to breed them.

exactley and that is why there is a market for them .when i had mine i charged the same price as for all the others, but because yu do not see many  around ,unscrupulous people claim they are rare and the price doubles,as with these new designer breeds.my ex landlords bred a male shitzu to 2 female jack russels.each had 3 puppies(2 females and 1 male each)she sold a female at 5weeks old for 550 pounds.she wasnt fully weaned,as i,d been having trouble getting them to eat solids.found out that most shitzus have bad mouths which causes this problem(from the mouth of a shitzu breeder).see wot i mean.i personally think it depends on the breeder.some are decent but most are not and are only in for the dosh but there again so are a lot who breed the normal coats/colours.that,s why i have no problems with the decent ones.Carole S.

You know something, for a newbie it's a mine field sorting out who's the good and bad.
And please don't start me on these designer dog breeders, I saw a litter advertised the other day for DOLLIES..... dobe x collie!!!!!!!

OMG.it gets worse doesnt it.no doubt when this animal arrives here and its mated to a gsd,i suppose we,ll be inundated with these ugly looking animals.wonder how much they,ll be charging for these pups.???Carole S.

OK, I know the KC standard requirements. I also realise that certain dogs were crossed to fit mans needs, but, please, do not call any dog which comes up to your so called 'standard of perfection '  a 'mutant'

All dogs are mutants.

A straight yes or no.

It would be very interesting to see what parentage DNA would turn up(regarding breed specifics)!!!!

Just a thought, but of course I forgot this check is not done here in the UK!!

So, my apologies to both of you, but so as not to upset anyone, the following is what I have come up with.

1. A mutant is an individual, organism, or new genetic character, arising or resulting from an instance of mutation, which is a base-pair sequence change within the DNA of a gene or chromosome of an organism resulting in the creation of a new character or trait not found in the wild type.
2. Any cross breeding or interferance with the natural order of any species is a mutation of the original. However as all species are evolved from a basic source, i.e. blue green/algea, I suspect that on that reckoning we are all mutatations of the original organism.
3. Or, perhaps a greater being made us all, if that is the case, what right had we mere mortals to mutate various species to satisfy our own basic needs?

So. We who have altered the basics to suit ourselves have no right to decry the attempts of others to do what we ourselves have done.

Just a thought from a simple and casual observer.

I just threw up a little bit in my mouth...lots of retching going on.  Can't believe someone would be STUPID enough to want to breed outside the standard or even consider buying one of these mutts being represented as a GSD.  Fools and their money!
