I'm bringing this back because it's been another month and no comments.  Any news of Halley?

by Halley 7 on 16 July 2010 - 14:07

Nothing, just when my hope dwindles, something happens to give me a boost.  A couple of weeks ago while I was at work I got a phonecall from a guy who had cought a german shepherd, but it turned out to be a male GSD.  Then I was checking my e-mail and my vet had sent me a reminder that Halley was due for her lepto vacc.  It upset me at first that they would send me that knowing that she was still missing, but it was an honest error, they apologized, but it is almost as if  God keeps giving little nudges to keep me going.  Everyone keeps telling me that someone has her and is keeping her for their own.  If that is true I hope she pisses and shits all over their house and doesn't listen to any of their commands (hee hee).

Halley 7, I don't know where Spencer, IA is in relation to where you're located, but the other day I came across this article about a GSD bitch that is roaming in that part of IA and no one's been able to catch her.  There are two photos of the bitch with the article.

On p. 7 (I think) she says she's near the Iowa border.  Also on p. 7 (I think) was a link to her pedigree and pic, and near the bottom of p. 7 someone posted a pic of their dog who is related and looks a lot like Halley (the missing dog).  At the top of p. 8 is a pic of Halley.  The dog in the article in Iowa could possibly be an older version of Halley, what do you think?

It would be helpful if the pic (or a link to it) were posted on each page, since it wasn't posted on the first page.  Or at least a post near the top of each page that Halley's pic is at the top of p. 8, and a post of a related, similar-looking dog is at the bottom of p. 7.

Very similar looking dog!  I hope someone is able to catch the dog and ID her or just get her to a safe forever home.  Very nice looking GSD for a stray.  I do hope Halley makes it home soon.

Did she check out the dog in Iowa?

I am nowhere near you, but just to give you a little hope - about 2 weeks ago someone phoned me to say he had found a nice gsd with a tattoo, it was in the street and just followed this guy really friendly to his house.  I checked the number and it was actually one from my kennel who had disappeared from his home over a year ago, we were able to the return the dog to its owners.  We have no idea where the dog had been in the meantime, but he had evidently been well looked after.

A couple of years ago another couple came to buy a puppy from me as their older dog had been missing for two months, actually stolen from their 10 year old son while playing in a park.  When they came to pick up the puppy they brought the older dog with them - he had been found in their neighbourhood just the day before, had a leg injury, probably from an encounter with a car, but was otherwise OK.  So miracles do happen - do not give up hope!

I am new to writing on this site, I live in Chicago, however I have read a lot in the past. I just want to say my heart goes out to you in finding your dog.  I silently searched all the shelter on line in my area and then some hoping for any chance of  possibly helping. I wish you the best of luck.
