its not a everybody/nobody thing ,like I said , many inbetween
to me , a titled dog doesnot represent the extra value it should have , because of what going on at this time , and a breeder BUYING titled breeding stock , just to produce and sell is in it for money IMO
exeptions either way offcourse

Duke,
I think I understand what you are saying.
But also....sometimes a breeder has to buy dogs to introduce into their "breeding" stock, especially if they breed to "keep" dogs for their future. Otherwise, they will be very limited to "genetics" outside their own.
As with anything......"moderation".
Breeding for soley "financial gain" is wrong, from "titled or non titled" dogs.

I'm a little late coming into this thread but I bought a pup out of a litter where the sire was titled and not he dam. I love her but she's not sport material. Found that out later in training. Bought another pup and neither one of his parents are titled but he seems to be really promising so far as a sport prospect. Some may say, dumb but it's all a crap shoot right? You can take a pup from well known w/titles and still get a mediocre pup and then come across a brilliant one from untitled and get your best? Kind of just a guessing game with pups, don't ya think/ You see what you see but that isn't always what you get Isn't that the way it is w/pups?

Well I don't believe puppies are a crap shot...but that is just my belief...I do believe that if you read things over and over again on a web board after a while you start believing it...and people seem to post the same stuff

Karen...
I would have to disagree as well as others I believe that it is impossible regardless of the bloodlines and titles that are on the parents to tell if a pup is going to be what you want it too... it is A CRAP SHOT. The litters I have produced have provided several off the top police working dogs, however there were pups out of the same litters that were more suited for pets... when you buy a pup you are taking a chance that they arent going to be that top dog. I try to carefully evaluate the pups in my litters to see which ones I believe is going to be most suited for certain jobs, I cannot place working potential guarantees on these pups, it is a crap shot again...

Remember Barkaase who was the $25.00 pound dog that was a Schutz 11, FH and other titles and a very top dog who could and would work.
