I thought in ivans vids he talked about taking the prey item causing conflict, but regardless both Ivan and Flinks have both competed and trained more than a couple dogs to a very high level. Better than most in the world, I would think you could train a dog either way and have pretty good sucess. There is no "right" way to train a dog, just different things that work better for different dogs in different circumstances with different handlers. Good luck getting it all right. I tend to use a lot of what I learned from the flinks stuff and seminars with the marker training which is something i picked up in a book totally unrelated to schutzhund and then saw the Ivan vids. I think both are very good, and the prices aren't that much. what are they 60 bucks or so? how'd you afford the dog? Ever attend a seminar? How much you think those cost? or to join a club, or pay for private training? This sport isn't cheap.

Look into going to a seminar. Mike Ellis, Ivan, or whoever, will help you with things like this, something a video cannot do. It is a good investment toward your dog training.
Even joining a club would be helpful to you.
