I worked an oversized Shepherd (105) lbs. early in my PSD career. Although he was equal in every capacity as any of our other dogs, getting him over an obstacle required a lot more effort than any other Shepherd in our kennels. He also tired just a little quicker took a little longer to chase down the bad guy but he still kicked some rightous "!!#$%&*_+=??/" on the street!!

I had an oversized gsd at one point, Kodi came from standard sized AM line parents but grew to be 32" at the shoulders and a svelte 120lbs, ( I kept him thin!)   Certainly not the breeders intention nor mine to end up with such a huge dog

What was the advantage to his size? well there wasn't one.  He couldn't get out of his own way, he took up the entire couch, you could land a leer jet on his nose, and I hate to say it, but he was kinda dumb as a rock:))

His hips and elbows were great (woulda thunk it?) I put him down @ 9yrs old because of complications from spondylosis.

Someone had to love him, and we did, but I would never want one that big again.

Your breeding goal is simply to produce varied sizes?  Geez why not just cross one GSD with a Tibetan Mastiff and another with a Chihuahua...

And you can predict what height they are going to be? breeding the two ends of the scale doesn't get you the middle ground, it doesn't work like that!

Good luck with those various sizes cos yep you're going to get them, very varied - Invest ina  crystal ball, it may help you with those height predictions, or maybe not....

I learned a new word today: PTHBBBBT! I'm using it because I have NO idea what the below means.

I'm going to breed quality dogs, unless you have junk at your rescue program.
Let me get it straight, my 10 month male is junk; if so, then you are jealous of my dogs.

Shtal,
I'm sure that NO ONE here posting is JEALOUS of you & your dogs.........
Most of the people posting are actually feeling just the OPPOSITE....!
Just because any of your dogs may carry a large breeders Kennel name (Fleischerheim), does not even remotely mean, that they are of "breeding quality".....it only means that you possibly paid way too much $$  for the "companion quality" dogs you have.
The GSD has a standard........giant size GSD do not conform to the standard... period.

You obviously have no intentions of contributing to the "betterment of the breed".......it is clear that your only goal is self satisfaction, thru ignorance..........what a shame.....I can only hope "that" changes.

It's a shame that you get gratification in starting a post like this, knowing the "response" it would receive from many in the GSD community.
Just my opinion.......
