Why dont you call these oversized dogs"American Giant Shepherds" or something like that, so decent breeders of GSDs will not be associated with? That way the lobby of these dogs can have their own breed and dont have to bother genuine GSD people.
All the best

Super sized mines in the yard and bigger bags of dog food, just what I DON"T want or need. How can they perform the same? A 120lb dog is not going to have the energy or speed as a 80lb dog. A 120lb dog is got going to be agile enough to do agility or make the jumps in FR, Mondio or fit in the tunnels for PSA. Larger dogs are famous for being couch sitters. I have a 95lb male that is already too damn slow.

There is no advantage to have a (really) oversize GSD. Some over the limit, I guess it's okay, but 120, 130 lbs...Allthat weight has to be supported by something. That "something" is th skeletal bones.

Much easier to get injured, get HD and Ed easier, slower to run etc... Peoplethat breed oversize GSD dogs are doing no favor to the actual dogs-mostimportantly, themselves and potantial buyers.

Yeah yeah yeah... everybody loves their own doggies, no matter how incorrect they may be.

What good are oversize dogs, except to the people who breed them $$$ and the people who fall in love with them?

You'll never find a single monster-sized GSD excelling at any competitive dog sport that requires the dog to actually move his ponderous body... not in Schtuzhund, not in PSA, not in Agility, not in Ringsport, etc.

Those who love Great Danes ought to stick with Great Danes and not try and distort the GSD into their size.  It is to the detriment of the dog.  The larger the breed, the shorter the life.  Why would anyone want to cut short the healthy life of their beloved furry friend?

But this all falling on deaf ears, right?  To the people who line their wallet from their "rare giants" these are useless arguments.  To the people who have fallen in love their "big boys" they could image nothing else to own.

C'est la vie...

Can your 120-173 pound dog have even the most remote possibility of actually passing ANY type of breed-worthiness test? I doubt they could get through just the heeling, much less any retrieves over a jump or wall. Frankly, it would be unsafe, if not reckless, to send one of these dogs over a jump or wall. Could one possibly search 6 blinds at any type of speed? Maybe--drive will out, but given the bloodlines you posted, I don't see the type of over-the-top drive that would propel the dog to do so. Even I, a non- conformation devoteé, can see the back problems in the making in that pup's structure.
