Randy, yes. But with one big caveat; he has never performed at the National level as has Vandal nor demonstrated obedience and tracking at that level. BTW, if I could roll back time and have him as a pup, I would definitely put the effort and time in to his development that we did with Vandal. And, I am guessing it would be a high level outcome. Great thread!! Randy and a few others are a wealth of information..: )
...
BTW I noticed Yasso at NASS and thought he did a very, very nice job. He was one of only a handful that I thought had good performances. Mittelwest's males, if I remember right all had pretty nice performances. I am in the learning phase this is only my humble opinion,,

Kevin, I have watched Vandal ( great name) on Youtube he is a handsome boy!!! Congrats with all your success!!

charity, good questions..:)  and I like the quote!

Hah, the you tube video was at 14 months. I sure hope he doesn't sound or look like that today. :). BTW, you probably don't know this, but I worked your current dog's mom in Alaska for a bit. She was going to be very, very nice. It didn't surprise me at all to see some of your earlier posts expressing some difficulty getting a handle on your boy. How is that going?

Yes, he was just a pup!! and so cute.. I loved the song that went with the video too!!

I was hoping I would hear more about Layla, but I have not seen much of her on the Mittelwest website..I have heard nice things about her from other people though,,,

My male, well, lets just say he is still a lot of a dog for me to handle..Bless his heart..;)

And the stories continue.  I suggest you go back over the previous posts to refresh yourself on what has been said. The US Schutzhud Sieger Show 2012 website is now up and to no ones surprise the SV Judge for the Working Class Males is none other than the same Frank Goldlust who achieved such success--or infamy--for his VA2, VA3, and SG1 placements by appearing with his dogs and for his dogs at NASS 2011l
Dont let the fact that his name is not listed as owner or co-owner in the catalog fool you.  He IS connected to all three of those dogs and used his connections with Judge Erik Bosl to get his placements.  Just imagine the pocket full of favors he owes to his fellow German judges at the 2012 US Schutzhund Show.  What is even worse, he is still listed to judge the Working Class Females at NASS 2012.  I didn't have a dog entered in NASS and I won't have one entered in US Schutzhund and I don't know why anyone would participate in either of these organizations until something is done about the corruption in the SV that is spiling over to our shores.  I don't pretend to have all the answers but I think boycotts do serve a purpose.
I sent this thread to several friends in Germany and later spoke to them by phone.  They all agreed the corruption and politics in Germany is worse now that it has ever been and the breeding of German Shepherds has become a big money making business--especially with the entry of China. Some of the previous posts detailed very clearly how to follow the successful rise of any given dog....and in an ideal world those steps are probably correct. However, what all of my German friends said was missing from those posts was the money element and the political connections.  There are so many German judges who breed and they do each other "favors".....from the time the puppies first begin to show.  And when it comes to the SV Sieger Show for any dog to secure a high place there is very big money involved--such as a commission when the dog is sold or a very, very expensive "gift". If it is indeed true that last year one of the top dogs was sold to China for 1 million Euros or 1 1/2 million dollar--a commission on that amount would be very impressive.  They also said that a German judge must co-own the dog--silently or publically--in order for the dog to progress.  In a previous post someone said that if people knew ahead of time a dog was going to be Sieger and did not understand the procedure, it was easy for those people to blame the dog's success on politics.  Yet, all of Germany knew that Remo was going to be the 2011 Sieger and still he was soundly booed by the stadium crowd during and after his poor bitework--for which he was given average scores.  Why--because he had to pass the bitework because he was going to be Sieger and the crowd knew he did not deserve it!!  They were blaming it on politics because they DID understand the procedure.
I was sorry to read a few posts that said "it is what it is and we need to live with it and concentrate on good breeding."  However the dogs with high Sieger Show placements with all this corruption and favoratism are not always the best of the breed and yet they get multiple breedings because of their publicity or they bring their owners large sums of money because of their placements.  We in America can concentrate on good breeding but when German judges come to our Sieger Shows already knowing which German dogs are coming here and that those dogs will be given top placements, I cannot see how that helps the betterment of the German Shepherd breed in any way.  It is insulting and disheartening and NASS 2011 was one of the worst examples of this.
Now for the WDA.  There are 9 regional directors whose job it is to keep the membership informed as to what is going on.  Unfortunately I admit in the past I have not been interested. That changed with 2011 NASS.  I now realize that the director for my region does very little and certainly does not bother to inform the membership as to what is going on.  And I wonder if this is the case in  the other 8 regions. For instance I was unaware that besides the quarterly board meetings the board conducts conference calls almost every month and that any WDA member can log into the call to listen to what is being discussed.  The next one is today-Wednesday, Ded. 28 and will start at 8:30 pm central time.  Dial 1-218-936-4141 and the access code is 6987190#.  Believe it or not this is another continuation of the July meeting--talk about politics!  Does your regional director ask each club to name a representative to meet with him or her about such issues as location of Sieger Shows or judges to be invited?  Mine sure does not! Thanks to the overwhelming membership vote at the NASS meeting, the Board was forced to abide by its own rules and hold NASS 2012 in the Midwest rather than in Region 1 as suggested by Mr. Henkel.  That would have been the 3rd year in a row on the east coast.  However, the question of judges still seems open.  The region 1 director Mr Henkel successfully nominated 3 of the 4 judges--see my post of October 10 and Frank Goldlust is still listed for the Working Class Females.  I am sure Mr. Henkel knows the names of many German judges but shouldn't the other Directors be abe to add some imput too?  Better yet shouldn't the membership be asked for input of the judges to be invited?  And why should the same judge be judging at both Sieger Shows?
That WDA membership meeting and its results and the WDA Facebook site and the Chat Board posts have made me wake up and realize that the membership in BOTH organizations needs to be more involved and needs to demand to be kept informed as to what is going on.  I will also say that it is still my opinion that any and all of the judges--official and unofficial--who participated in the 2011 NASS farce should be banned--officially or unofficially--from judging in the United States for at least 2 years--starting with the 2012 US Schutzhund Sieger Show.  That may not end the corruption but it may make the Germans take Americans and our pride in our American bred dogs a little more seriously and we have to start somewhere for the sake of our German Shepherd breed!

Openmind!!

You opened your mouth now I’m sticking your foot in it.   I usually stay away from these threads they're a waste of valuable time.  BUT before you spout off you  should know your facts.

Fact:
Herr Frank Goldlust was scheduled to judge the 2012 USA Sieger show WELL in advance of him being at the 2011 NASS.  We don’t have to tell you or anyone who the judges will be until we announce complete details i.e. location venue and full slate of judges.    If you don’t like the judges at any event don’t go it’s as simple as that.

BTW I don’t hide behind an anonymous name.

Happy New Year to all.

Really not trying to stir, Mary, but how does  having scheduled  the judge prior to the 2011 NASS change Openmind's point?     His/her mouth is open, but I don't see a foot anywhere near it.  JMHO

Even I, a non-show person, has noticed  that Goldlust (oh, the irony!!) seems to often  have some connection to dogs being shown before him.

Sadly no matter who the judges are, who the dog is or who owns said dog or dogs there will always be someone whining about the placements.  As I said before these topics go nowhere a total waste of time.  It just feeds the frenzy.

Train your dogs to do the best they and you can do.  It’s far more productive.  See you all ringside or on the field.

Happy New Year.

Openmind, I get e-mails for each of the coference calls, as well as complete instructions regarding how to participate in them. You may want to inquire about that. Theresa
