With all that loose skin, wonder how they get the ears up? Implanted stays, maybe? Ugly.....

joanro, that was my initial thought as well, especially since we've all seen how photos can be unintentionally distorted just in trying to upload them into a specified pixel limitation, for example... But as Blitzen said--the video sealed the deal. One of those dogs can barely *walk*, further triggering my need to furiously dig through reference materials and such to find out where I've seen this type before and what horrible anomaly it was linked to.
One thing I do know off the top of my head--it's become more and more common to find hypothyroidism in this breed, and one of the clinical signs of that disorder is what's known as the 'tragic' look--drooping lower eyelids, loose skin on the face creating a jowly appearance... Ringing any bells?

OMG is all I can say after the vids. That poor dog in the last one..............

This is what Bonnie Dalzell used to call, "Floppy GSDs". For all intent and purposes, the dog in that last video looks like it's got a connective tissue disorder.

Ok, gotcha, Hexe. Haven't had time to view the vids yet. I'm looking between feeding dogs and waiting for puppy food to be ready to feed . I'll look at the vids in a while. I still think the "look" is bred for, by people who have no understanding of the functionality of the breed. How did the bull dog get where it is?

@Beetree, I have given chapter and verse over the years on my take of the problem and what it takes to correct it....many like you just don't happen to subscribe to my take. Actually that makes me encouraged....anyway, I don't need secret confirmations to tell me where I am in the breed....my dogs speak for me and always have.

Like begets like. IMO this is all the result of selective breeding.

The dog in the 2nd vid may have DM.

I think so Blitzen, or just too much angulation.
They have some with extreme skin under the neck, angles and top line. I'm actually still trying to see if I can find one of those massive males in a better video, and also The pedigrees of course to see how many generations this took. Many also have taped ears.
