BooBoo: you are making another misinformed booboo. USCA has always determined team eligibility for both the WUSV and FCI Championships based on averaging scores. Didn't even have to wait for you to stumble on the concept. USCA discovered it without you. : -) Maybe you could make a more timely suggestion to WDA for next year. I am sure your anonymous input would be valued.

USCA's selection process for the qualifier this year goes like this: The top 3 from the USCA National Championship is automatic. The top score at that event was 287 and the 3rd place was 283. The next 3 are selected from the Working Dog Championship. The top 3 GSD's from that event is automatic. The top GSD score at that event was 287 and the 3rd place GSD score was 286. The next four out of the 10 will come from the highest TWO combination scores between the Nationals, WDC, AWDF at the end of this weekend we will know the final count for USCA.

FYI...the WDA rules to qualify for the combined Wusv qualification trial is posted on the WDA Nationals web site...

So Mystere actually the USCA does not average at all according to Wallace Payne's explanation of how the USCA qualifier team members are chosen. A single top 3 score at the USCA Nationals (presumably above 270) gets a USCA member and dog on the USCA qualifier team for the WUSV regardless of previous or future performance. A top 3 GSD score at the WDC ( otherwise a Mal would go every year) gets another 3 USCA members onto the USCA qualifier team regardless. The others are chosen by throwing out their lowest score or only taking two scores in the other 3 national events that the USCA or their surrogates (AWDF) conduct. So that is not averaging and teams with low scores in one or two of three USCA national events can get into the WUSV qualifier for the USCA. So it looks like the USCA system is just as arbitrary and no more likely to pick winners at the future WUSV competition than any other possible system. High scores are good but if you either hit a home run or strike out that is perhaps not going to cut it at the WUSV competition. The idea that someone who makes a 250 to get in the WUSV qualifier and then makes a 290 to win through to the USA WUSV team is somehow less fit seems ridiculous. The handler/dog team scoring well closest to the actual WUSV trial would seem the obvious choice to represent the USA. The USCA should pick their 10 member USA WUSV qualifier team as they see fit in 2014 and the GSDCA-WDA likewise.

GSDCA-WDA requested that the qualification score to make it to the quali trial be lowered to 250 ( WDA requested that not USCA !) USCA said ok. If GSDCA-WDA want to bring people that "Flunk USCA will let them like they were going to do this year. "I" (Not USCA) created this post because one of the guys in my club that I've known for more than 20 years and have trained together with for that long (Almost everyone else that made it are friends of mine too) would have been disrespected If GSDCA-WDA invited people that flunked. USCA didn't try to stop GSDCA-WDA one way or another. It was GSDCA-WDA's competitors that stood up against that crap! However, I think next year you may get your wish? GSDCA-WDA will do they thing to send 10 (Whatever that might be?) and USCA will do theirs,

Charles Finley (hiding out as Bubbabooboo): Really, what do you care? You have ranted and railed about USCA here and on the Leerburg forum, and apparently have nothing else in your life. But, WHY do you care? I cannot recall ever seeing your kennel name in ANY trial results (USCA, WDA, DVG) and I think I would have remembered such an AKC-type name in any schutzhund trial on a gsd. 
You clearly have no comprehension of the word "arbitrary."
Now that you have been identified and your "cloak -of-cowardice" pulled off, please explain what your vested interest is in anything to do with USCA, the WUSV Championship, or anything pertaining to dog-sport, period, as you and your dogs are not involved. Or, is it just that you get off from "anonymously" ranting, raving and trying to play bully from behind a keyboard? Were you kicked out of a USCA club, lose an election, or something? Weaned too early? What, exactly, is your trauma?

Keeping all the puppies in a litter together with their mother and litter mates until they are 8 months old and thinking that letting them out in the back yard together is exercise may explain why you don't see booboo's dogs doing anything.

I think it would be fair to say that everyone going to compete at the WUSV qualifier wants to qualify, so the fewer the number of contestants the better are each entrants odds regardless of whether they are USCA or GSDCA-WDA. Everyone entering the qualifier had to train and compete to get there. They may have had a sub par peformance or had injuries or conditions that hindered their performance at a previous trial to get into the qualifier. The best performing handler/dog teams from the USA WUSV qualifier should represent the USA at the WUSV. The 270 "flunk" test seems to be more of a help for those trying to make the WUSV team from the USA than an aid to picking the best WUSV team members to represent the USA. Maybe winning the WUSV is not the entire reason the USA sends a team.
