... bump...  Vote NO to all 3 bylaw proposals.  Make sure your voice is heard.

by akctrainer on 30 March 2012 - 11:03

Does the vote really matter. If the process is corrupt as some have posted and the situation has been changed from the regional director/office manager counting the votes. To method #2 three board members counting the votes. To method #3 Dan Hartman and 2 other board members counting the votes. Is it not aparrant this thing is going to pass regardless. The current method is just as flawed as the others.

All the names are on the ballots of those that voted right? Here Dan take this pile. We know how these people voted. We will count the others over here. Let us know what you get and we will do the same. Maybe some of those ballots are duplicates. It would not take much to run a few extra. Once the ballots are in, we know who voted and who did not. Print a few more and Dan can open them all by himself. This vote was decided long before the ballots went out.

Congratulations. The board already in power has secured it's control by eliminating any other qualified people to run against them. They have eliminated the chance the membership could actually vote a change.

Perhaps if enough people vote NO on all three changes, then it will be very difficult (though not impossible) for the board to ignore.

I voted NO on all three by law changes. Do I like the process? No, but I still voted and I voted NO . Do I trust this board? No, but I still voted and I voted NO. Do I fear retribution? Yes, but I still voted NO. Let the harmonious board do their worst, I will not be intimidated. I will not leave the WDA. They will have to vote me out and you can trust I will not leave quietly. They have made their threats and played their games and I will continue to speak the truth and hope that enough members hear it and see this group for who they are. Their words say one thing but THEN say something very different with their actions. Don't fall for the words, judge them by their actions.

It is time this board understands that the membership and not the board is the power behind the WDA. Take back your power and show this board that the membership will not be easily silenced. I encourage anyone who has not sent their ballot back yet, MAIL IT BACK NOW AND VOTE NO ON ALL THREE PROPOSED CHANGES.

Just a reminder for members of GSDCA-WDA to get their ballots in.   Looking forward to seeing the results from the GSDCA-WDA Nationals - 17 IPO 3's entered, 3 FH's and 2 IPO 2's .  Here is hoping for FAIR and IMPARTIAL JUDGING for each competitor.

I am Not a member of WDA.   The ballots in the envelopes with the names on them are checked off.  There are going to be people who do not send in their ballots.  Couldn't "new" envelopes be added to the pile of Yes votes in the names of those who did not send in theirs???

by openmind on 02 April 2012 - 17:04

GSD4dogs, akctrainer, K9nme--I wholeheartedly agree with you.  In fact, this whole "election" is a sham.  I had suggested in an earlier post that an injunction should be sought to impound the ballots until a legal decision could be rendered as to the legality of requiring members to sign their names under return address labels identifying them, thus, eliminating the privacy of voting.  However, after giving it more thought, the signed envelopes are already being received and checked off by the WDA, instead of a non-biased, outside source, and as has been suggested, the names of those not sending in ballots are known, and who is to prevent those names from being fraudulently used to cast "yes" votes? I now feel the only hope is to have this entire procedure declared null and void in a courtroom.  Sunshine, thank you for your posts, and I hope you have pursued your search for good pro bono lawyers and that someone is able to help you in your offer to audit the financial records.

To those of you who say that you want no part of politics and instead prefer to work with your dogs, I can understand that completely, and until NASS 2011, I felt exactly the same way.  However, the cadre, now in power and intending to attain complete control of the WDA for themselves, has counted on the members being more interested in their dogs than in the politics (and in a perfect world that is how it should be) and, therefore, not even bothering to vote.  Believe me, I did that many times before, but NOT THIS TIME and NEVER AGAIN.  These 3 by law proposals and the timing of them are so blatantly transparent, as explained in one of my earlier posts, that it just goes to show the disdain and arrogance the current Board has for the members.  This Board is simply so sure of a victory, which will give them and future Boards complete control over WDA members, that they do not even care if some people see what is really going on.

My dogs, their unconditional love, and the time I spend with them will always be more important to me than politics, but, in this case, I feel that fighting the metastases of political corruption within the WDA is also a fight for the betterment of the breed we all love and is also a fight for fairness in the judging of everyone's dog in competitions.  As I posted earlier, I was sickened at NASS 2011 where the judging was so fixed. (See thread The Politics at NASS 2011.)  Therre were people there that I knew had spend so much time and money training their dogs and should have had chances at good placements, only to be denied those chances because of corruption on both sides of the Atlantic.

Please talk to your friends and fellow WDA members to be sure to vote "NO" for all 3 by law proposals.  And, if by chance, nothing is able to stop this Board from being victorious, then I think the next step should be to start recruiting 200 WDA members for the NASS 2012 Membership Meeting.  I know I will be there!

Openmind,
Thank you for your open posts. I too did not get involved that much in politics at the board level. There was always enough need at a local level as well as the need to enjoy and train my dogs.

I hope other members get over their worry about being "outed" by their vote and vote.

If these by-law changes pass then I believe we all need to consider the next steps to take our organization back.

There is only one reason they would propose these changes at this time. They have plans that they fear the membership would oppose if we had a voice. We must make sure that the membership always has a voice.

by JudyK on 03 April 2012 - 20:04

Thank you openmind for telling it like it is.  The whole thing is a battle that shouldn't be happening in the first place.  The strength of the WDA has always been in it's membership and if and when that goes away the WDA becomes no different that USCA with it's disdain for the individual.  I said on the official WDA FB page before I was censored and I will repeat again that the quorum amendment is an attempt to silence the voice of the people pure and simple.  Those who have not yet voted, please do so immediately.  Right now we can speak loudly as a group but only if everyone participates and sends in their ballot.
