(g) Insurance Companies will be happy to issue Policies to Clubs whether with the KC or not, as the bottomline issues are ALL ABOUT MONEY and they will not want to lose money they have previously had in their coffers
5. RUNNING THE NEW SCHEME
(a) Appointing a Chairman/Vice Chairman/Secretary and Committee of the new Governing Body – this to be done by Ballot of all existing Member Clubs of the now Breed Council and/or all Clubs that agree to breakaway - there are many people out there capable and knowledgeable enough to do these jobs honestly and without prejudice.
(b) Setting up a New Breed Council.
(c) Getting a Database up and running.
(d) Setting Dates for changeover from the Kennel Club.
(e) Organising a “FAIR” Show Rota System that is more suitable and conducive to showing GSDs in the UK and which benefits all 4 countries, not just one country due to it being geographically larger than the other 3.
No longer any need to go to All Breed Shows to be abused by other breeds and the Committees of those Clubs. Put your money to the Breed itself and not into the coffers of the large Canine Clubs.
(f) There will be Many Many other issues that others may bring up and that I have probably missed as I am not as I said an expert in all of these issues.

OTHER SUGGESTIONS
The main Office of the Governing Body to be in England with satellite Branch Offices (albeit in home environments) in Scotland, Ireland and Wales, where the registration data from each country would be collected, collated and send on to the Main Office monthly or quarterly, whichever is the most acceptable timescale.
PART IV
I would personally volunteer to provide a Secretarial service in Scotland initially to get the satellite Branch Office up and running.
The GSD National Magazine is the perfect medium for publishing the data for the New Service and this addition to the magazine would add more information on a monthly basis to its readers on registrations and health scheme information – this would in fact become GSD NATIONAL MAGAZINE/GSD BREED SUPPLEMENT as well as a forum for articles and letters etc. making this medium an even more important publication as it is purchased worldwide.
There will be many more ideas and issues to deal with, but in my opinion if we start work NOW to implement a new Registration Scheme, Governing Body etc we can be ready to serve the Kennel Club before January 2012 with a P45 from the GSD Fraternity in the UK and I hope they choke on it when it arrives.
WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE PERFECT OPPORTUNITY TO CUT AND RUN NOW – DON’T LET THEM BULLDOZE/BULLY/BLACKMAIL OR SHAFT US THIS TIME – MAKE THE BREAK FOR THE SAKE OF OUR WONDERFUL BREED.

I am happy to donate £50.00 for either a fighting fund or towards a new show scene held under SV rules.
We have seen several statements recently from the KC - but I havent heard anything about a statement from the GSDP.
However with regard to registrations, I thought that at the meeting in October it was decided that we could still use the KC registration scheme, while setting up our own scheme and show scene?
I think this is the way forward - we keep going round in circles while the KC laugh at us - lets use them they way they have used us all the time we have been paying them to register puppies.
If the likes of Caroline Kisko wants to keep long coated whites and prefers the "level backed" type - let her.
As I have said before - we can do better than that. We need to publicize that we have the correct German Shepherd dog and have the breeds health foremost in our minds - let the Alsatianists explain to the General Public why a lot of them dont even do the basic health tests.
I personally think that the KC has hit us first because we are numerically strong and they think by getting us to toe the line, the breeds with serious health problems will just fall into line - we mustnt let them do this.

Can Any-one suggest a meeting place, meeting date, and then perhaps we could look at the viability of meeting - we need to support the meeting, so its no good doing it without trying to make it as easy for us all as we can. Perhaps even regional meetings with 6 or 8 representatives coming to a meeting with the views of their region.
There have already on this thread been many very sound suggestions, and not forgetting The Way Forward document from David Payne that was seen and approved by so many of us - we have to move though, because time is ticking.....
I have called an urgent meeting of Birmingham and District GSD Assn committee to discuss this, and have sent out a letter to our training clubs for people that just train their dogs.
We all have regional news TV programmes - Shy little soul that I am, :) I am prepared to go to make a news issue of it if necessary, and I am sure that there are people much better versed than I that could do the same in their area`s, but again - it all needs organising properly, so that all go to the regional news programmes within the same week and singing from the same hymn sheets....- causing more interest from the main news
Lets face it - what would we be telling....
- "We need to inform the public of the plight of reputable people trying to get the whole welfare and health of dogs identified.....pedigree puppies with K.C. registration doesnt mean a fig ...........because puppy farmers - which have been in the news recently have registered those puppies with the Kennel Clubs blessing and no health checks or care for inbreeding, safe breeding, or welfare has been questioned by the K.C.
Move away from the KC now ?
They have made it very clear its the step to take -
move away and still have the option of using their registration system?
- they would fight it, then the monopolies commission issue would raise - whatever the KC do, it will be underhand, fudged, and very much their own agenda, so we should have ours, because from this thread, our agenda is clear
THE HEALTH AND WELFARE OF GERMAN SHEPHERD DOGS AND REPUTABLE BREEDERS

There is just no way you can get all the Clubs/Breeders or interested parties together in one place at this harsh winter time of year, it is hard enought to get people together once or twice a year as it is, but Mo's suggestion of having REGIONALl MEETINGS and then collate the info together is a brilliant idea. I am sure it would be easier to manage overall.
Once the Clubs contact ALL their existing members, which they should surely be in the process of doing right now, and have made their decision on these issues, then it would be appropriate to arrange a CENTRAL POINT in say each of the smaller countries - Scotland, Ireland and Wales and in England, it being that much larger, can divide into appropriate Regions and have their Meetings, from there each Region can collate its decision and pass them back to the Breed Council/GSDP for them to inform the KC of the FINAL DECISION across the board and then we must take it from there.
The Breed Council/GSDP would then have to make up a List of Possible Leaders for the New Club of the UK and perhaps a choice of names at the same time (all suggestions to be taken on board from all interested parties) and this info could be relayed to the Clubs who have chosen to leave the KC, whereby they could then ballot their Members (this could be done by paper ballot without having to meet over and over again - as we can be talking huge distances & time and other commitments) regarding their choice of leadership and name.
I think the above is the best and most democratic way of doing things. Unfortunately, those who are NOT MEMBERS of any Club will have to make their own decisions of either becoming a member of a Club in their chosen region or choosing their own path, we cannot SPOON FEED them all of course.
Bottomline ALL CLUBS IN THE UK MUST HAVE EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETINGS IN A CENTRAL LOCATION FOR THEIR MEMBERS TO DISCUSS THEIR OPTIONS and from there pass on their decision to the BREED COUNCIL/GSDP and/or of course the others who wish to stay can go straight to the KC with their decision.
If a General Meeting of all the Clubs in Scotland is required I am happy to arrange a CENTRAL POINT for that Meeting in early February or earlier if necessary where we can all discuss the issues and what each Club in Scotland has decided.
Please feel free to contact me if you wish to put your points forward, even if you are not a member of a Club in Scotland, I am happy to have a chat about all this and hear your views.
