There is no doubt in my mind that there are Sch. dog capable of being excellent PPD. There are also those rare dogs with the natural aggression and fight drive that will take severe abuse at the hands of an attacker, because they have the hardness of character and the desire to win. This represents a very small percentage of dogs and I will go out on a limb and say there aren't to many lines or individual dogs that can produce this "type" consistantly. These dogs are what I call genetic freaks and it's like winning the lottery when you get one. The scenario you describe would wash out way more than 75% of dogs if tested, including many dog's people think could handle it.
Personaly, I wouldn't make any claims to what a dog is capable of doing with out training and testing it first. A dog trained in any sport will have far to many holes in it's training to be considered a true protection dog. It's not to say the dog isn't capable, it just hasn't recieved the training required to make it well rounded and effective in this line of work.
