hey every one, thanks for all your help and encouragement..........good to know there are so many of y'all out there.

after vacation, I have an appointment to be evaluated by someone Hero's breeder truly trusts. after the eval, she will direct me to the appropriate training.......and next time we will look like a professional team, Sita and I!

yes, very optimistic........is there any other way?

Maybe it's just the way the dog was trained. Not sure who you train with but every dog is different. My older dog

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-pzpIw5kto

was trained differently then my younger dog

Both with good results. I don't think killing the dog is the answer. Maybe you guys just weren't ready. Maybe you were misled into thinking you were. That's why you should video so you can sit back, take a deep breath and watch it. You'll be suprised at the things you do that you don't notice while out there on the field. Good luck. Keep us updated. If you're ever in Jersey i'd be more then happy to help if i can.

Steve1, you have it wrong, I (kitkat here), is the one that failed my BH, not my sister, ( she is on mini va-ca, lent me her computer, mine is broken), She was NOT saying anything negative to sitamom about failing the BH! It happens. All you can do is go out there and try again. Giving it your BEST SHOT is all ANYONE can do.
I am still working my dogs, Duke and the puppy-girl. I will try for the BH again, with both.
Also, I have had three dogs hips and joints done this past month, ALL GOOD.   AND, I also think you mis-read her post. She WAWS NOT refering to bitework with the BH, we DO KNOW SOME THINGS!!!!!
Anyway, sitasmom, Sorry you failed the BH, I did also. That WAS MY VERY FIRST TIME TRYING anything like that. Live and learn. Better luck next time, (same goes for me).

I failed my first BH.....I owned my first Rottweiler that time and attempted it at a GSD Club.....
3/4 thru the routine.....I got so nervous because the "chow hound" started smelling the ground......I "threw-up" and forgot the rest of the routine....I pulled the dog.  I remember the judge asking me over and over..." Are you sure, you are almost finished, you are doing fine".....all that did was make me even more nervous....I started to have tears swell.
I was embarrassed, nervous & frustrated.......what a mess!  Oh the "younger years"!

Don't get discouraged....everyone has a bad day.
Sincerely,
Robin

Oh, you are sooooo right. How embarassing that you don't know right from left, At thye Moment of Truth, The most basic thing in life. I'm telling you, my ears were going, wah, wahh, wahhh, in the competition,
I really don't believe that your first EVER competition should refect badly on yourself or your dog,,,AFTER ALL...we "tried"!

No i do not have it wrong, the heading is Wuzzup, so i and others can only presume it is Wuzzup posting, you are wrong for not signing the bottom how are people to know that you are using someones computer

Your post  or Wuzzup who ever of you is using the computer repying to Sue on the 02 Aug at 20.08
regards the statement, i have seen Dogs who would not come off the sleeve, and had to be choked off, is not good at all, that proves the handler, Owner etc has not trained the Dog correctly,
and it sure would not pass anything for if given the command to release three times and the dog does not then it is disqualified thats it Out, nothing more said
But saying this there is no bite work at all in a BH in any country

Thanks Steve1

Sita is coming along in her training, she understands what "watch" means and can sustain eye contact for quite a while, even from an extended down from across the room.

I have not had her on a leash since shortly after coming home from BH. At first because I couldn't trust myself and now because we are working on off-leash exercises.

In a few weeks I will be getting an evaluation from a very close work mate and friend of Hero's breeder. She will then decide what our best course of action is. In the City where I live, there are many different highly successful trainers and this person knows most of them. Once evaluated, she will give me contact information for the trainers that she feels would do us best.

This person will be evaluation personalities of our dogs', my husband's and mine. She will also see the interactions going on.......The goal is to come out of this failure with the tools, and backup support to be resplendent the in every thing we decide to to do in the future.

This is completely in line with my promise and commitment to Hero's breeder before I being granted first male pick. This is a responsibility I hold in high regard.  So in 9 months or a year........I will be BH'ing 2 dogs, my little Sita and Hero and we will be the best!

BTW - I was very angry (not at my dog), not nervous during the trial.......long story! And yes........I know already, you don't have to tell me about dogs sensing emotions......

Once again, Steve1 - thank you.
