Jacko

by Jacko on 19 December 2010 - 19:12

Photobucket

Katie at 10 or 12 weeks, it was a long time ago and sorry for being a picutre of a picture.  With her herding instincts and drive she was a terrior at this age, we did not have a sock in the house that did not have a hole in it.  She was always a butt and still is Just like her maternal grandfather.  Always the way she wanted it...

Researching her bloodlines over the years is  why I have Jacko now...

Thanks everyone for keeping this thread positive, and a place we can share our showlines, as they are very much disregarded nowadays! Everyone's dogs are beautiful, and all of them are happy! I am very happy to also see active owners with showing and handling, and working, just awesome! When I get a pup of my own I love agility and obedience! :)
Keep up the great work with your dogs, every one of them looks so healthy and happy!

@Kalibeck we all learn, especially from first dogs if that were the case. however its good that you didn't give up, and thats what's most important!:)

I think our dogs are only as "disregarded" as we allow them to be.  I love my show line dog.  He's exactly what I wanted.  He is a "jack of all trades, master of none" sort of dog.  Schutzhund, agility, SDA obedience and protection (suit work), dock diving, herding, lure coursing, AKC obedience, conformation....no problems with anything we try.  I got my dog mainly for agility and for "club level" Schutzhund as I could not make a firm commitment to SchH when I got my dog due to a lack of resources in my area.  Now Schutzhund is our main venue of training and competition but I've yet to find anything else my dog can't do or doesn't show interest in doing.  I never set out to "prove" anything by getting a show line dog, I simply liked the lines, loved the dam, thought I'd give it a try and have been very satisfied.  When I want a more powerful working dog I get a working line dog.  I don't like it when people see us trialing and assume I'm trying to prove my show line is better than a working line, that is not the case at all, we're just training and doing what we love.  Our biggest struggle is tracking but my dog has a tracking title and I feel that our "problems" are due more to my inexperience as a handler and the fact that of everything we do, I like tracking the least.
