When I finally get back to TX, I would love to come and train with yall. (If it's not a private club, been so long that I have inquired about your club, I've forgotten) I won't be living anywhere close to you. We are are looking in the San Antonio area. Lots of nice properties, cheap. Currentl looking at one with 5 acres!!! My husband has been thinking about getting helper certified. I actually caught him bookmarking different websites with scrtach pants, sleeves etc... How cool is that?
Funny story (ya, I talk a lot, I know) I begged him for Indi. Took two weeks or more to convince him to get her for me. In fact, I asked him to lend me the money he'd been saving for the diamond engagement ring I've been wanting for the last 4 years. He told me the dog or the ring, so she is my ring. :-) I had actually considered naming her "ICE"... I even agreed to not pester him for another whole year, from the 14th of September. He drives a hard bargain, and made me agree to 2 years LOL Oh, and will have to handler her. As much as I'd love to, I can't train two dogs at the same time being a novice.
Well I suppose it's time to get ready for work. Hope you have a great day. Thanks for listening to me cackle like am ole hen!
Signed,
Impatienly Waiting (Ahhhh another "I" name ...Impatience

Stacy, definitely come by! It's not a private club. I think to be a member you have to be invited but our TD and the helpers there will work any dog that comes out. These guys love training so much they will pretty much train anything. One time someone brought a snapping turtle (not to train lol, just to show) and he started doing "rag" work with the turtle and everyone was standing there critiquing its grip. Could have been a scene out of King of the Hill LOL.
5 Acres and a your own husband helper sounds like recipe for success (and maybe a awesome up and coming kennel!). Don't you also have another GSD - remember reading that in another thread.
My compromise with the mrs. is that I let her get a dog of her own. She wanted a small dog so we ended up adopting a crazy little corgi x jack russell terrier girl with an iron grip and mega drives. So I've been stealing the dog from her to take to training (herding and agility). Now her complaint is that I conned her into getting a second ... and now a third dog!
Here are some pictures of Dottie the corgi x jack russell and Obie the GSD mutt
