Wow what a pleasure it was to read these post's ,the fact that good WL dogs are being reconised and concidered being used to SL dogs. they do have alot to offer and i think it's time to introduce some new blood, it's just a shame that some excellent dogs will be bi passed by some because of colour,

Hey Melissa,
he looks nice, and not bad for a 7 year old phtographer!
Here are a couple of our Onyx to prove that he looks nice in amateur photos too.
As a 16 month old at an indoor show in Germany (yes he is bridged):

As a 23 month old, standing naturally:

And newest one from 3 weeks ago at the WDA show in North Carolina (and this photo was taken by my 12 year old, not the best angle but she likes taking photos):

Chris,
We'll eventually get some really good ones... when the stars and planets are in line and a whole lotta luck we'll get one. Lol.
Onyx is gorgeous! You can send him to me any day!

I'm loving the open and honest discussion of the dogs and the pros and cons of each... done with clean intentioned evaluation rather than any attempt to bolster a different dog/line and rip anyone's breedings. I've long felt that the Correct conformation with stable social temperaments presents THE BEST of what the GSD represents. Both extreems (of conformation VS working ablity) err in overlooking the good points of the other. Everyone's got their own ideal... guess from what little I know Olek Vom Maineche shows the best of what I look for in a GSD. Have seen video's of his work, which always has seemed calm yet fully involved.

Thanks again to everyone (Especially Chris [Silbersee]) for their input... more threads like this do our breed a service!

Windwalker, totally agree with the above statement but how can this be achieved when both extremes of the breeding spectrum aren't rewarded (in competition) for the good points of the other?

There's always going to be people breeding for the wrong reasons... primarilly for $$$$$$$$.. and others who treasure their reputation in the spotlight, either in Conformation or Sport... And nothing that is said will change their choosing to breed for their own reasons and goals. All anyone can do is check their on moral compass and do what they know is right. If each individual does the best... AND RECOMMENDS OTHERS WHO DO THE SAME to potential puppy and/or dog buyers it can improve. By sharing INFORMATION rather than rumors. That's what I love about this thread, there was a LOT of good info here.

Windwalker, thanks.
Funny that my last litter goes back to two dogs you have mentioned here . Their sire is a Frankie Anrebri-grandson and their dam a Paska Salztalblick-daughter. And I was thrilled with these 9 puppies, their structure and temperaments, and I think their new owners are too.
Here is a new photo of my now 15 week old Vince who just might go to Germany in fall for a career overseas. We have friends there who would love to have him. I just wish he could leave sooner since I kept two sisters back, but it is Vince who seems to have the nicest conformation and more importantly, movement (what can I say - I am a conformation person at heart and can't overlook that aspect).
