She was xrayed because I had offers from several breeders to purchase her.  But I decided to get her hips checked just in case.  I'd rather place a dog in permanent home than have them bounce around because they didn't pass health testing.  Its not the cheapest way to do things, but has the best outcome for the dog IMO.

Mfh27 I was excoriated here when I said that OFA is not necessarily  reliable source of information.
The data is coming from 1990 issue of Cornell's Animal Health Newsletter, where the editors cited much data gathered by OFA about the increase in reliability of detection of HD as the age increases. They quoted OFA regarding the3 diagnosis in GSD as having around 16%  reliability at the age of 6 mo, but also quoted the OFA claims of about 90% reliability with such preliminary diagnoses. Contradictory, yes, and so far not satisfactorily explained.V There has been no really good scientific report overturning Jessen& Spurell's 1970-72 scientific finding.

Below are pictures of development of ossification of the hips and of the pelvis with age :

From the pictures we can see that development of the bones at 3-6 mo is definitely just partial and thus it is ridiculous to make any assumptions of future hips from these ages.
