This is a very interesting thread. Where I usually dont like to jump to conclusions without hearing the other sides claimed specifics, usually if there are a number of verified eye witnesses with similar reports, thats pretty solid evidence something is not right, whether it be in a public court of opinion or law. Although you're still fairly vague or semi evasive about what you factually wanted Wayne to do, whether it be helping with vet bills, moral support, or just some empirical knowledge on the dogs background and health records, I feel you genuinely loved this dog. And maybe he filled some emotional void for you at a time you needed unconditional love, which made you love him even more, and that to me is very cool. Very lucky dog. My only question is whether or not you had any specific health guarantees in writing, or verbal agreements? If these exists, you do have recourse. At the very least you could take him to court, win, publicly publish the results and prevent this from happening to another unlucky, uninformed potential buyer of Kraftwerk. That is if everything your stating are the pure untainted facts.

I do own a 4 yr old female from Kraftwerk that I purchased as an 8 week old pup, and I couldn't be happier with her. She draws the same types of reactions from people that you mentioned regarding Paco, and if I lost her I'd be as devastated as you obviously are. I know from my dealings with Wayne that he does lack the customer service and communication skills that one would expect from a professional breeder and when paying top dollar for a dog. I've never had health problems with my girl, so I can't speak directly regarding those types of interactions with him, but I'm sorry to hear he left you in the dark like that. He has always returned my phone calls and emails when I have had questions, though not necessarily in the timely manner that would be requisite if a medical emergency was the topic.
I'd imagine for someone who sells so many dogs in any given year there are bound to be a number of cases where health issues would come up, and it's a real shame that he doesn't do a better job of handling those situations, because he does for the most part breed and import quality shepherds who deserve better than to have their names tarnished by the relative handful of bad experiences.
I do want to say thanks for posting the info regarding Paco. As his problems were of a genetic nature it's doing a kindness to other owners who may have dogs in his lineage so they can be alert to possible problems. And while Wayne didn't whelp Paco from one of his breedings, hopefully he will be wise enough to use your example to improve upon his practices of health screening and importing such dogs. At the least it can serve as a learning experience for the rest of the breeders here on the board who do care about their customer's opinions.
Best wishes with your recovery from this whole ordeal, and should you decide to move on to another dog, he or she will no doubt be very lucky to have such a caring owner like yourself.

she has evaded the questions sucincc asked her above.
when she bought said dog? at what age did she receive said dog?how long did she own said dog before it got sick? since kraftwerk was not the original breeder, has she contacted the original breeder?
i personnel thin such accusations should be looked into before being allowed to be posted. a lot of them are just because they are mad at a certain person or kennel. such accusations that bear no proof, and she has none, is slanderous and can hurt a kennels reputation and sales. it is not right.
