Outdoor, for sure. Bonding, we bond when we train, when we hike, when he hangs out with me in the yard. It all depends on what you want to do with your dog as well.

Wes, thank you very much for the link. I just finished reading the article and it certainly sheds a different light on things. Tho some things are not really relevant to me, I am always interested in learning more about working dogs, esp. the GSD. Thanks again.

One difference might also be in the main focus a person holds in their relaitonship with a dog. Me, they're #1 my buddies, and I want them to share my day/night. If I were training and campaining a number of dogs for competition I might want their focus to be on the Schutzhund and training. That's not making a judgment one way or the other btw... *chuckle* it also might depend on whether my partner in life shared my joy of dog hair in my dinner... lol.
