Felloffher

by Felloffher on 10 February 2011 - 22:02

I think the issue for me was really cold tempratures and waist high snow. My guy had an undercoat as well, the snow just seemed to melt and freeze in his coat during exercise.  Red Sable I had to trim the hair between my guys paws because the snow balls would build up and cause small cuts between his toes.

Coats foot on the left, Regular on the right. Maybe she is just a special coat?

They really enjoyed posing for this photo!

This is Kuma he's the coat I was reffering to, as you can see his coat isn't really all that long. I would trim the long tuffs of hair between his toes, not the bottom of his paw. Sorry,  I read my post again and I wasn't really clear on that.

Ah I see,
You have the original post fluffy puppies sister I believe... "Rush" babies.
I will also note that 1 foot of snow is a lot down here! And we will see how the fluffy pup does in his avalanche training, lots and lots of snow there!

But this is all besides the point, when do coast get their adult fur?

Kuma was sired by Roland Eqidius, but I did have a litter or Rush pups. I had two from the litter that were fluff balls like yours and both turned out to be stock coats.

Kuma's adult coat came in around 5-7 months old.

I thought you already have a coat?  Their adult coat comes in the same as any other dog, however, they go through changes, ear fluff diminishes, and  and the feathering increases as does the toe tufts.

Here is my dogs foot after todays walk.  She's gotten most of them out already. BTW, she also is a LSC and  has an undercoat.

Here is all of her.

I imported my coat last spring, she was 2 1/2. The coat puppy is still all baby fur and my short coat is all adult fur. This is why I ask!
