@ Xeph's....I try hard to be fair in my assessment of the breed and individual dogs....I certainly did not have a problem with your dog Wesson or Mahler, because they both are sound dogs....but then again you know me and know I don't care what line a dog comes from if it is sound.
I am a member of the South Jersey GSDC which is an AKC breed club that has been in existence for a very long time. The club actually asked me to join and I have a very good relationship with ALL the members. Go figure?

You met Loch (haha), but yes, I definitely understand what you mean :D A stable dog is a good dog, regardless of line.

Ibrahim n Susie are always worth to read n lot of information transforms in mind n I belive the way both of them drive this topic from different prospects is truly more then one can do - The Ampel knowledge in there pockets always full fill every one demands.
In my openion one should spend many many years to knew all about what they said - Words are less to explain their generousity..
Thanks you so much other Participant as well to make it happen for new Comers... ..:)

Not trying to dredge up the arguments that started on here, but I was on FB looking at pics and found these. What are the thoughts on these dogs? I know what I like, but I cannot, in Ibrahim's terminology, tell you WHY I like something or I don't. I have had moderately good success earmarking pups early on who will do ok in showing, but that's about it. Here are 2 100% working line dogs.
Herding horses, above.
Below, strutting her stuff as a baby (different dog!)
Any thoughts are appreciated.

Jenni,
I think both the dogs are very good in structure, I will leave comments on gait for others. I know you hardly make a mistake so I will take your word that second dog is in fact a 100% working dog but I bet a 100 dollars she comes from long generations of V rated dogs, no dog can look like that out of blues. Can you share her pedigree?

Ibrahim, both girls are daughters of Capri. Dog on top is at a rather awkward phase, about a year old, and dog below is 7mos., and has been handled by an experienced handler. The one on the bottom, younger dog, has a solid damline for structure (Capri) and I always try to breed on a solid damline. Top is decent, but not by any means "solid V's". Sire is very solid in structure, but there are a few G's and several SG's, whereas Capri's side is heavier in the V's. I just tried to choose a complementary type male to breed to. I knew, hahaha. See bottom puppy would easily be confused for a showline if it were black/tan color. That is a good type, correct moderate angulation. very nice head, topline, withers and croup. I love that structure.

Heeling, not gaiting but it shows me a lot of what I'm looking for from a structural perspective.

Keith, that dog has a very good structure, very good shoulder, withers and beautiful topline. Black is beautiful, makes me wonder if color is somehow connected to conformation, lol.

Thanks, Ibrahim; at 21 months, we're starting to like how he's maturing.
