People are people & dogs are dogs.
But in this case, science says dogs are a genetic resource.
The topic is about breeding different lines. (diversity?)
Not show people vs. sport people.

Quote: I am guessing I shouldn't bite but Jeff Oelsen your posts are thoroughly unpleasant and show you to be a blinkered, rude misogynist who is incapable of considering the opinions of others.
I consider what others say, and then I ask to see what they consider to be "excellent" or "good". Then they put up a video which is very nice of them, and then I express my opinion, and it is different. Usually very different. Then I state why this is good or whatever, and then people get mad. The funny thing is when I say it to people in person, they do not get all butt hurt like on a forum, because it is what it is.
You will read my posts, we all know that.

People argue genetic diversity quite often, but I swear no one stops to think what that even means. The idea that "genetic diversity" is always beneficial is a total myth. It can benefit a species ability to adapt to a changing environment that favors one getoype over another, which happens to be completely irrelevant to the context of selective breeding and maintaining a standard. In what world is nature going to favor "pretty" and cull it's more "practical" specimens? Diversity by it's very nature works against uniformity, against standards, and most importantly, increases incompatibility of breeding propositions that are attempting to attain specific goals or standards.

Quote: All that it comes down to is show us the proof, one, two or even 100 examples of a SL that can work isn't proof of breeding in the right direction.
Sadly I have watched as helpers give the sleeve to the show dogs in many many videos and the dogs are out of control and instead of going holy crap, they blindly point out the one dog that held on, and didn't run off to take the opportunity to piss on a tree. Although I think that dog did that as well.
Then the propaganda starts. Working lines are unbalanced, cannot be around children, are unstable bla bla bla. To look at what they have to offer, it is irritating.
They talk about the cross between the lines, and show some examples and yes, I can appreciate the work involved, but that is NOT what I am talking about. I am talking about the idea of crossing less than average with a good dog or average dog and then getting all emotional when I say what a stupid fucking idea that is.
Then as always there are people that get all butt hurt because I curse. WOW. nice argument, got me there. What has how I speak got to do with the abomination of crossing shit with good ? It goes back to no one wants to be realistic about what dog they have in front of them. Years ago, I had a dog that I really really liked that didn't work for shit. I never bred the dog, Never claimed that she was anything except my dog. She had lots of good points, just not points that I would BREED. I do see the attraction to a dog that is not staring at you non stop, or shoving a foamy tennis ball into your crotch all the time. I do see it, just would not breed it.
I wish that showline dogs would at least work, and my idea of work is at least what the lady with the crutches has. However, that dog falls into a catagory where it is not showline anymore. I also want to make sure that she knows that I know how hard it is to train a dog, how much it costs, and the time. However, how many of the litter mates can work like that ?
Should we look at it like the show line dog isn't as far gone as we think ? Or would looking at the littermates show that the dog is a one of, or fluke ? Lots of questions, but what is the answer ? I know good and damn well that the money is in making a dog that looks like a working dog but is a high threshold shitter. LOL I met a lady one time who does exactly that. She is doing real well. REAL well. Hard to stick to your morals when that amount of money is out there waiting. LOL Good thing I was raised right no matter what some of you say.
