Just an idea, but could there be any connection between his
episodes of diarrhea and someone else doing the feeding a
day or so prior ? I ask because sometimes people think they
are measuring the same weight / amount as you do, but are
actually a fraction more 'heavy-handed' than you [and nothing
upsets healthy tums like over-eating can].

his feeding may fluctuate but only by maybe a half cup...we're good with that to make sure he doesn't overeat. i like lean, little rib showing but a layer of fat to pinch. he can eat a variety of food like carrots, yogurt and other healthy treats with no issues. so 3 things I will do...i took away the wood sticks, he's plays with nylon bones in the yard now; 5 days panacur; add probiotic to diet...then it's wait and see

I know parasites can shed intermittently... so deworming may not be a bad idea, however, It sounds to me like Turk knows his dog and that eating sticks in the yard certainly "could" be the trigger... and not even necessarily the sticks... but any bacterial changes to his system from mold on branches, bacteria in the ground, etc..
Prager made a good point as well about the food, and not always getting the same thing in every bag every time.
So for the two reasons above, definatley a probiotic would be in order.
Turk... you mentioned other 'foods' like yogurt, carrots, etc... that your boy eats. When/how often do you feed those things and does that coincide with soft stool? Or are they fed on a daily basis.
Is your boy on a regular preventative for parasites (i.e. a heartworm medication)?

I raised the idea about others' feeding because it can be a trigger
which goes unnoticed, even if the difference is less than a dozen
kibbles, it can be surprising how much difference the extra makes
even though it seems so little. Like you, I've always preferred to
keep dogs on the lean side, and that coupled with what else they
get as training treats etc, means I probably slightly underfeed by
the reckoning of 'most people'.
So on more than one occasion, this subtle difference has been the
cause of temporary digestive upset - so I never overlook that factor
as a possibility.

heartworm every month and test was neg. i give him healthy treats like the yogurt and carrots on and off weekly, not every day, but it never bothers him. i gave him his first dose of panacur tonight and he gobbled every bit of it up so we'll see...i really watch him, and we're strict with him in the house in that we give him no table food, no junk treats of any kind..i use wellness treats. also when he poops we immeadiatly pick it up we dont leave any laying around.

I think that it is caused by the dog eating foreign indigestible objects wood, grass,.... If this is happening only now and then for 1 day at a time I would not worry about.it. It is against federal law to use meds not as they are labeled. What everrrr . I'd look under horse dewormers.

I found the canine treatments and am following dosage guidlines. I get nervous with cross medicating, using another animals med for another animal. thanks everyone!!!
