Around here pups from the breeding in question would go for $300-$400. If the female was titled, you might get a couple hundred more. The problem is the breeding won't appeal to strictly working line folks or strictly showline folks, so you are going to be selling to pet homes pretty much. As far as the female's pedigree, the old adage "what have you done for me lately" comes to mind. Meaning that titles 4-5 generations back are nice but aren't really relevant unless the titles continue forward to the immediate generation behind the dam.

How is this breeding IMPROVING the GSD breed?  (no need to answer me or anyone here.. that is the first question anyone looking to breed a dog should ask).

What do you need to get for the puppies to break even?

You need titles close up.. and it is a good idea to stick to the same type of dog you have and breed in that type range going for smaller steps in improvment.  I have considered the WL/SL cross.. but it is too much of a crap shoot.

The object of that breeding would be a well conformed dog with a lot of drive and work ethic.  What usually happens tho is you get pups in the litter that are a mix of type and drive as individuals... as opposed to the thing you were shooting for which is a mix of type and drive IN indivicduals.

This breeding  would not be supported by the price of the puppies IMO.

dogs are worth what you can get for them.  Maybe you can find a bunch of people with more money than experience and get more.  But seriously, people that are serious into the stuff probably aren't going to be interested in this breeding, even if the dam is titled.

and people that don't care about that stuff usually aren't paying much, titles or not.  i'd say if you can get 2-400 that would be about right.

I have to agree with the others i would say 300 - 400 for the puppies and the would go on limited registration.

Unless there was something really special about the bitch I do not think I would breed her at all.
Pet price in my area is $350.00

Of the dogs in this pedigree listed as "OFA", only two are actually in the database (paternal great grandsire and paternal great granddam).  I'd question if any dog listed as x-rayed here really is unless perhaps the names are listed wrong and that's why they can't be located?

I'm from the Bahamas where dogs sell on the apperance and qualities of the parents so if they were nice i'd buy one for around 700 but that's there. When I was younger, I was a lot like you. I got an am show/czech bitch that is beautiful and a great dog. I would breed her back home just because there aren't many like her around. On the other hand, now that i'm in the US I want to save for a nice older bitch with good lines, structure, and temeperament, and i'll take her home and breed her. There are too many really nice dogs to justify okay breedings in the US or Canada or Germany.

If I were you tho, i'd title her and breed to a DDR stud. If you really like her, try to figure out what you like about her and keep it consistent. Crossing work to show is one thing but you'll be mixing working lines, show lines, and am show lines. you mix red and blue, you get a couple shades of purple, but red blue and yellow could make about anything.
