OK, the bad is all over with, Thank you all for you best wishes!
We lost 7, all but one looked well formed and healthy.
She had her pups on the 61st day from the first day she was mated.
Jenni, congrats on Capri's litter! Capri looks so much like Rollie, love the bi-colors!
I was feeding Tessie raw meat (lean roast beef) and lots of it just about 3 days out of the week, the rest of the week Fromm Gold.
She has the appetite of a lab!
Here they are, we are planning a Theo/Caroline litter so people have moved over to that one, infact, some of them were off that list to begin with and moved to this one.
I have a man that is a state police officer and he has 2 of my shepherd's, one is Theo's half brother, the dog herds Buffalo and is also being certified to become a police K9, he is getting my female black & red, I am so happy I know she will be worked!
His dog that herds Buffalo is going to be featured on animal planet sometime in the near future!

How depressing to lose so many. I'm very sorry.
I'm going to do some research on the diet; I'm sure you haven't had time to look at whether or not that could've had a thing to do with it.

When we had our recent disaster with my friend's bitch, all the pups in one horn of the uterus died first. The vet said this could cause a problem with delivery, because the bitch generally delivers a pup from first one horn, then the other. (We eventually lost all the pups, but that's not relevant, so I will spare the details.)
My guess is that something went wrong with one side of her uterus, causing the pups to die. I would have the vet check her out if you plan to breed her again, to make sure there's nothing wrong with her uterus. I'd have her checked for infection, too. It was pyometria that caused the death of my friend's litter.
I do not think allowing her to mate freely, or overfeeding her had anything to do with the dead pups. If they were preemies, they would have been smaller than the other pups, and likely would have lived for a little while rather than being still born. Even premature human babies are capable of taking that first breath, though they may need help (incubator, oxygen, tube feeding, etc.) to keep on living.

As I said, my thoughts exactly sunsilver!
She said all but one looked normal.... well if the one that didn't look normal, died and has been dead for a few days, then that most likely infected the whole horn which killed the other pups. The 4th female did not look good in the picture so she most likely was infected also. SO GLAD THE OTHER 3 ARE DOING WELL! But have her checked out! HOW IS HER DISCHARGE? I would get her checked out for sure.

Tessie is eating a ton of food again and drinking a lot of water, she is very healthy!

Sable with a spot, I won't have to mark anyone, mother nature did!
