destiny:

Hence the training. I know many women who have invested in good handgun training and you would not stand a chance against them or the bad guy in this case.

Beware of the owner not there dog.

Schtuzhund, PP, Police k9 can be trained the same way....and in reality should be.  it is all in how the dog views the protection.  What does schtuzhund translate to??...Oh yeah, "protection dog".

They should all be taught to work in the same mind set....after the foudation is laid you can change the training to meet your needs.

PP is pobably one of the easiest with less training required....because it is mainly foundation work.  Never had a dog that I had to teach to "defend a a car"...I have been spending years trying to get my dogs to stop thatsmiley

Police k9...many dont want their dogs barking their heads off anymore.....liability reasons so the bad buy can actually hear your commands and in court cant say "I didnt hear him say stop because the dog was barking so loud".  Most dont do hold and barks (if they are smart).....just "fire an forget"....but still all of the same foundation

If you ever get to see a properly trained dog that is working through aggression do a schtuzhund routine....you wont forget it.  The sheer POWER and CONTROL is turly impressive.  Once you see this you will understand what I say about it being all the same training.

The only problem....there arnt alot of trainers out there that are doing it like this now days......Many dont know how, many dont want the liability because of ignorant owners, many arnt brought dogs that can be trained properly......in the end you cant get there by throwing a sheet over your head and running in the back door.

i have read a lot of responses to this post. never ever did anyone mention the facts. some dogs are genetically inclined to be civil. these are the dogs police want, security co. want and also pp seekers want. they are bred for this.
slamdunk, ace and a few others know excatly what i am saying is true.
nOT TO SAY SOME SCH OR OTHER SPORT DOGS WON'T DEFEND BUT THEY ARE BRED FOR SPORT AND GENETICALLY ARE MORE PREY DRIVEN. THIS MAKES GOOD SPORT DOGS. HIT THE CAPS BUTTON BEFORE I KNEW IT. SORRY.........

Sable59,

I agree with what you are saying, I once bought one of those super high prey driven GSD's for my sister.  The breeder is one of the top and reliable breeders in the USA.  When asked about his program he stated that he breeds dogs for sport.  IDK that he actually meant that his dogs couldnt do other stuff like police work, ect.  But the one we got was very highly prey driven, she has a good defensive edge when agitated, but in everyday life she precieves no threat ever.

Now to my point...

These dogs have the same ancestors as the more serious dogs do, lets sat in the second generation, for sure, with dogs like Asko.  Also these dogs you are taking about, do they have ancestors with BSP, LGA titles?
