I am really sorry for your loss, this is a very sad and horrible thing to have gone through. I also agree that not returning your calls and emails is pretty callous and not a very good business practice. That said, unless Kraftwerk knowingly sold you a sick dog without telling you about it, I don't think you can't hold them responsible, even if his condition was known to be 100% caused by genetics, unless of course, it was covered under a guarantee.

Keith- There is a lot more to Pacos story. Its not just his perianal fistulas. Its documented by vets (yes I got multiple opinions). I did not buy Paco from someone that breeds once a year and i found in some cheap local classifed weekend ads... Wayne does this everyday of his life, pocketing thousands. For god sakes, I needed answers on Paco's background, I needed Wayne to step up and HELP me to save my dog. That is the responsible thing for him to do. Like I said if Paco had been hit by a car or choked on a rock- I would never expect Wayne to do anything but this was MUCH different.
I understand a lot of people complain about breeders, but this is honestly a horrible sitution and has taken such a toll on me that I feel like it wouldn't of hurt Wayne to step up. Why can't a breeder return a phone call or an email? He clearly knew what was going on.
And I, in good conscience, must let people know my story to help others not make the same mistake as I did. In good conscience Paco was not disposible to me, as he was to Wayne. I trusted Kraftwerk. Wayne is a coward and there are many others who agree. When I finally got a hold of his manager, his acted like he had no excuse for Waynes actions. Now instead of walking my dog on Monday nights, I am at a pet loss support group.
Thank you to everyone who has understood, you have made me feel better with something I have struggled with alone. Its good to know theres a german sherpherd forum like this.

I hope everyone can understand how emotional I am about this all. I do not mean to come off as rude to anyone. ;)

I'm sorry, I guess I don't understand, but really appreciate your patience in explaining so that I can understand. I know you are upset, but I am still wondering about the questions I asked. When did you buy the dog? How old was the dog when you bought him? How long after you bought the dog was he diagnosed? Kraftwerk is not the breeder of the dog? Have you contacted the breeder of the dog?
In your opinion, what should Kraftwerk have done? How could they have helped you? Are you talking about moral support or financial support for the vet bills? Why do you say that Kraftwerk felt the dog was disposable? What would you have wanted Kraftwerk to do specifically to help you with the dog? Why do you think he knew what was going on with your dog? You say you have spoken with the manager regarding your dog, what did that person say about it?

Please accept my deepest sympathy over the loss of your best friend. In time you will feel better. It's okay to grieve deeply over your dog. Remember all the great times you had when your dog was healthy. I know for myself, I can't change or undo the past. It doesn't help me heal to hold anger in my heart. For me getting another dog has always helped when I have lost one. Please consider this in a few months. There are many great GSD breeders. You will find a new best friend to help fill the hole in your heart when it is time.

I agree with hejnye. Another dog won't replace Paco, but they will help in the healing process. I didn't want another GSD after I lost my first. Now I get a new pup within 2 months after the loss of one. I have 4. It doesn't in anyway take the place of the GSD lost. It just helps a whole lot. I don't know what sueincc doesn't understand about this situation. How about the curtisy of a simply phone call to give any information on background of Paco. Since Wayne sold the dog you would think he would have some kind of info on the dogs background. Blowing the buyer off, sounds like he has something to hide. Understand yet??? This to will pass Take Care

Then I guess you missed my second post in this thread (top of this page) where I said "I also agree that not returning your calls and emails is pretty callous and not a very good business practice". Not sure what you think he could have said that would have been of any assistance regarding the medical condition of the dog. It's not like brokers keep some sort of extensive medical history records of dogs they have sold. Also not sure why you should be confused about my questions, since I asked very straight forward, specific questions that the original poster has apparently chosen to ignore. What I won't do is jump to conclusions and assume the worst about anyone without knowing the full story.
I have as much sympathy for anyone who loses a dog, regardless of whether it's a regular poster or like the OP, someone who has never posted on this board prior to this thread, but the fact remains we really don't know exactly what happened, we are only hearing one side.
According to the original poster, she came here to "warn" people about Kraftwerk and has made some pretty nasty accusations. I have no connection with Kraftwerk, but I do think if you're going to bad mouth someone, easy target or not, you need to have some actual facts that prove what your'e saying, I'm funny like that.
Bottom line: If he knowingly sold the dog when it was sick without disclosing to the buyer then as far as I'm concerned he should be hung upside down by his balls and horse whipped. I just still have yet to understand this is in fact the case.

I have Paco's medical records (documented by VETS) that are pretty damn thick for his age, Sueinnc. Those are the "facts"... If more than one vet tells me its genetic, I went to MANY vets (my regular vet, emergency vets, internal medicine specialist, holistic vet, long distance vets that specialize in genetics-- I am not joking when I say I WANTED DESPERATELY to help my dog) I feel like whether Kraftwerk was aware of it or not (ill never know), they should have addressed it.
I don't find anything I said as nasty. I just said what my experience was. I went through hell, I cry all the time over my dog. Please take note, Wayne never represented himself as a broker. He was the seller, I was the buyer. He knew Paco well. He gave up ownership of the dog to me, which really was to protect Kraftwerk if Paco attacked someone I couldn't point the finger at Wayne... fully understandable.
I really wanted to like Wayne, I really did. I was madly in love with Paco and told everyone how happy I was until Paco became ill. I do think Wayne has some really nice dogs, I really wish I could say I was going to buy another, but now I can't. Then I told everyone how worried I was and how sick it made me to slowly lose my best friend. As time went on I couldn't have my normal Paco time, like our nightly walks or car rides. Nobody can convince me otherwise that I deserved a conversation with Wayne about a dog I bought from him. Wayne could of atleast showed some sympathy- hell, even a return phone call would of been nice. Wayne deals with german shepherds everyday, what makes you think he wouldn't know about their genetic medical conditions? Why can't he take the time to talk to someone who was so desperate for some feedback on a dog they bought from him? For some support? I know Wayne has a business to run but he told me he was always a phone call away the day we wrote the check.
I'm not some crazy dog owner whose dog died from something I could of prevented, or I could of done things differently. Trust me, I came on this board to orginally find out if anyone else had bought a sick dog from them (I read some people had and read about some lawsuit agianst Kraftwerk), as people asked more questions I told more of what MY experience was. I am really disappointed in Kraftwerk and that is MY experience. If people had positive experiences, please post them here as well.
I know I ended up with Paco for a reason. I gave him the absolute BEST care possible and loved him with every fiber of my being. He was more than just a product to me, he was my best friend. I got him thinking I wanted a protection dog and he turned out to be SO much more. We really bonded. He helped me through some really tough times. Paco was the ideal GSD.
I apperciate everyones comments, and I have found some great support, unfortunately I find this a bit draining to defend my experience on something I feel is so straight forward. I've spent the last year of my life explaining things to different vets, thinking, obsessing over saving him, recieving news about Paco, losing Paco. I am just drained. If no one else has gone through what I did, thats a GOOD thing!
If anyone has some positive feedback or comments youre welcome to PM me, so far I have gotten some nice PMs.

Truth be told, there is a very good reason people say "where there's smoke, there's fire". Between parvo litters and questionable health regards adult dogs, this is one breeder/broker I personally would stay far away from.
Again, I'm really sorry for your loss, at least the dog had a very loving home in the end.
I do hope, as other posters have said, that you find a new dog to pour your heart into, it sounds like you go to the ends of the earth for your dogs, you deserve another dog, and there is another dog out there who deserves an owner who will love him the way you will. Hopefully your bad experience with this one breeder/broker won't turn you against all of them, there are some good and ethical people out there.
