Steve?  Where did I mention a number at any trial?  I made a comment as a response to what Mystere had posted.  This is what I was told by one of the purveyors who participated in the WDC event only.  I never mentioned the number 17 or the number 25.  I said it was poorly attended by entry and by spectator and in the words of said purveyor, was poorly run.  IMO, the economy can play a part but I personally believe it is more of a reflection on what the current administration has and is doing to the sport of Schutzhund and the German Shepherd in this country.

I have personallly spoken to more than 1/2 of the competitors who were there and they told me and some e-mailed that they had a great time....

Duderino   you are an Uber-weenie

Perhaps you should spend more time formulating your thoughts rather than sharing them

by Duderino on 18 May 2011 - 19:05

And Habanaro (Habanero?) you are a USCA apologist and linked closely by a family relationship to one of it's hierarchy so what else would you say?  I simply made a statement FROM SOMETHING I WAS TOLD BY A PARTICIPANT.  I really don't care about anything USCA does anymore other than contributing to the decline of the sport and what was a good working breed in America.  Have you been to a Sieger Show lately?

by Duderino on 18 May 2011 - 20:05

Perhaps you should step out of the shower you are sharing with Johannes

Well I,m not related to ANY hierarchy but did have 2 members of the club I train with trialing and several spectating and there response was positive.

Duferino:

Again if 25 is poorly attended (your words) what is 17 at the only National event WDA has ?. If your going to use that logic to attempt to downtrod a organization there both out of line for what the rank and file perceives as proper.

I think if more people spent more time working there dogs instead of whinnig about politics and "Mom likes you more then me" mentallity they would not have time to set and let something that is nothing, fester. Both orginizations will have to do what is best for there membership if the membership doesnt like it they can change it or just whine about it as Duf has obviously choosen to.

I think the GSD dog and the sport are doing just fine in the USA and if more people worked there dogs of choice and stopped trying to make stupid points with lack of logic backing them up everyone would probably be better off.

Duf, if ya need a hug I,m there for ya.

Ahemmm, AGAIN, I never made a reference to the WDA, you did.  I HAPPENED TO MENTION WHAT I WAS TOLD BY A PURVEYOR THAT WAS A PARTICIPANT AT THE EVENT.  Are you that much of a USCA mouthpiece that your reading comprehension skills are failing?

by Bob McKown on 18 May 2011 - 20:05

 Duf:
I,m just trying to use your twisted logic, If it,s bad for one it,s bad for both, am I right?

I my self hope the best for both organizations. And AHEMM.. I do happen to support the organization that I belong to is it perfect No but what is.

by Duderino on 18 May 2011 - 20:05

No one is allowed to use my twisted logic without the obligatory user fee.

Duderino
Do not get your knickers in a twist, my bad' i was going on what Bob said it is no big deal
However no one has yet mentioned how your events are run when you get an entry of say 30 plus handlers and Dogs at one event
and duderino you maybe forgetting that these events i guess are as Judron said going forwards to particpate in the WUSV
You will not get even Dogs who are ScH3 many times over compete in these events simply because they are not CLASS  enough to compete at the same level as the top dogs and Handlers
It is excatly the same over here in Belgium the Dogs and Handlers are moving up a grade or two and the judges are just as hard even on the top Dogs It is a different sort of competition to your normal Trials, so you will get less competitors as only the best are good enough and most handlers know there dogs limits in such types of competition

ALL dogsport events are experiencing low numbers, both for entries and for spectators. Do club politics figure heavily in the numbers for a working trial event? Yeah, some, to be sure, but IMO 90% of the disappointing turn outs are a product of the freaking economy. If you and your dog are ready for national level competition, (maybe a once in a lifetime opportunity) and you can afford to go... you go!

But--- It costs a potload of money to attend an event more than a couple of hundred miles from home, especially if you're flying half-way across the country, with dog(s). Most competitors and spectators are NOT sponsored, not Pro's, not expecting to make the WUSV team... just ordinary working (maybe) people, forced to cut back on the "fun" in their lives in favor of supporting homes and families in the face of rising costs and shrinking/disappearing paychecks. None of that reflects badly on the events themselves, also more expensive to put on every day. (The days of renting Cosumnes River College's stadium for $125./day are GONE, folks)  If anything, the organizers should get even more kudos for managing to hold the event at all, reaching into their own pockets, cutting into their own work hours & time with family to see that it happens.

I'm guessing the "purveyor" didn't sell enough of what they were "purveying", and possibly didn't rack in the scroes they had hoped for. Sure would explain the sour grapes, although one would hope to witness better sportsmanship. You can't please everybody.

Don't like the event? Don't like the location? Throw your own club's hat in the ring to host it next year. If you haven't ever done it before, you're gonna be in for some real wake up calls. Said endeavor has been the death knell more more than a few clubs, a LOT of friendships, and a quite a few marriages too. Don't forget to make a sacrifice to the weather Gods. If they aren't on your side you'll never hear the end of it.*
