when not at home............

outside dogs can guard the lawnmower,

inside dogs can guard the tv, stereo, jewlery, etc......

if i'm outside then they are outside with me.

usually i take at least 1 with me where ever I go

someone tried to break into my home a while back - Hanny physically stopped him.

My dogs live outdoors in a pen and kennel all year round, As for bonding they sure are bonded as well as a dog that lives indoors,
I am in the garden every day winter and Summer and working in and around the Pigeon Lofts, They go for walks and are trained every day of the Year, they go to the training Club three times a week with us, and once a week each come in the car to the City to walk around with the People. They lack for nothing, But they gain the interest of what is going on around the Garden and most of all they enjoy the Fresh Air.
Gina spends some time of the day laying on top of her Kennel, Ball between her legs watching me toiling away in the garden

Mine is a natural dog. Goes in and out. Likes his job keeping out the riff-raff. Has a throw rug by one of the sliders and at least two beat up leather chairs that he claims when no one else wants to sit there. Has no issues with the weather-- rain, snow, sleet or sunshine. I have to wipe his feet for him though, when it is the muddy season, he never wipes them himself, and while he can open many doors, he NEVER, EVER shuts them behind himself.

Steve,

That's a pretty good schedule in my eyes! For me.... when you say pigeon lofts? Are they yours? Are you raising them? Because we all know that million dollar question. And if they are yours then you have the answer! How come you never see a baby pigeon??? And if they are yours maybe you can take some pictures???

Thanks.

Yes, i have raced Pigeons now for 60 years, I cannot put the loft on this side of the Forum but i will try and take some Pic's of a couple of young pigeons, various ages and the Pigeon Loft and put them on the off topic side. IT will be hard to do it tomorrow as i am taking Gina for a Show Grade tomorrow Sunday. But i will put them on Monday latest. Some may find them of interest

All three live indoors with me. The males go with me when I go out if it is not hot the female is vehichle posesive so she only rides with me if I will not be out of the van for much because I do not want to pup to pick up her habits. She is only this way because of idots and their children I caught banging the sides of my van laughing because they made her react. They sleep on the floor of my bedroom at night on dog beds. They lay on my studio floor when I am working. They are mostly with me 24/ 7. We have a tight bond and they are well bonded with each other. They listen well and are well mannered. It works for us. We take play and hike breaks during the day. If I leave them home while I go out alone they are crated. It is not because I do not trust them, but rather it is best for their safty just in case. The only downside to indoor dogs is I have to vaccum an extra two times a day when all three blow coat together lol Otherwise yes there is shedding but they are well mannered and behaved in the house and no problem.

i won't get into  all the psychology of canines .. BUT there are several [ and imporftant /critical] differences inside vs. outside dogs living at a residence !! It does make a difference and let no one state differently .. in short .. we think in human terms.. THINK CANINE ... without a whole seminar : what do dogs center their life on ? survival and resources !! what therefore is im[portant .. maybe what you eat , where your shelter is , your pack , where you sleep , the territory controlled ?? you think ... So .. ask your dog ?? the canine will give you the TRUE answer !!   [ for the record , i have had companions and working GSDs , 13 in my home last year , currently 11 , believe me .. there is a difference] !!

Even when I had a large number of dogs any that I planned on keeping were raised in the house for the 1st 6 months of l ife or more, and were my travel buddies in the truck.  After that age they joined the rotation in and out of the house.  Gladly I now only have a few dogs and they live inside, with a dog door to a large fenced yard that's open in the day time.  Always shut at night to keep Raccoons etc out and protect the dogs from wandering Coyotes, Bear and Dog nappers. I had two dogs stolen back in 1974, and still am gunshy.  Most of the dogs sleep on or around the bed.
