Where do your dogs live...??? - Page 3

Let's see - my guys pretty much have free run of the house. If i'm not home, the young one is crated-she has no house priviledges because she's a baaaad dog (garbage can and litter box (if she can get to it). At night , the young girl and my hubby's truck dog sleep in the bedroom with me. She's on the floor on my side of the bed (that's where the AC vent is-very smart..) and the other one sleeps near the doorway. My big guy likes his "room" (that's what we call crates in my house) and my older girl sleeps on the sofa. During the day, they either go out in the yard (about an acre) or help me on the other 19 with the horses. Me- I get a spot in the barn, not even one of the nice stalls with a fan. Oh, and they've figured out how the drive the pickup around the property.
I can't remember went the last bath was.It usually involves a swim in one of the water troughs. They get brushed on a regular basis and I have my hands on them every day checking for cuts and critters. They don't smell, look slick and shiny, and as for the hair- well,that just never ever stops. I sweep almost every day and vacuum once a week. It is what it is. If my trade off is living with galloping hair balls or not have the dogs, well, that's just a no brainer...

Deanna ; i have 12 GSDs in my houseat the same time .  ... in the same roomwith me when i am in ... no differnet than how i grew up .. you play outside the house ..inside the house you mind your manners !!wherever i go I take at least three ..eveen to work ..  always .. i  used to drive around with 6 in my surburban !! anybody do this with their GSDs  ??  How many vacum cleaners do you kill a year with dog hair?

Alpha, all of mine sleep in my twin bed with me in my Mom's basement. We spoon all night long.

Lol,   my 3 live in the house and I only bathe them about 2-3 times a year.   My old boy is 15 and sometimes needs an extra bath or two a year.   In the summer they do get a "rinse" in the hose quite often just for fun, or after a dip in the river.  Guests comment on how clean they smell all the time.  Your dogs never smell is what I hear.  I suspect that is diet.  My floors need cleaning more than the dogs from dirty feet, but my dogs are pretty clean.  They do shed a lot,  my dyson animal takes care of that.  I wish I could say I keep them well brushed, but, well,  I just don't keep up with that.  They do get weekly nail trims.

All three of mine have crates in the bedroom, where they stay when I'm not home.  I don't want them fussing and barking at the mailman, oil man,  dogs next door, etc. when I'm not home.   When my daughter and I are home, they are out with us.  My youngest sleeps in crate overnight as well.  My older two either sleep in their open crates or at the foot of my bed.  Neither like being overly warm, so they'll lay at the bottom of the bed an hour or two, and then move off to the cool crate bottom to finish off thier night.  Or lay on each side of my bed on the floor and leave the bed to the housecats.

hey Don .. nothing wrong having GSD sleep in a twin bed .. aside from a husban or wife ... can you think of any other animal / or canine breed on this earth more LOYAL .. My 6 GSDs i allow in the bedroom .they . take the place of my previous body guard  :-)  !!  BTW DON .. i answered your request about watching a video / commeting in another thread - GO TO :  the General Forum here and read the thread about the drive question, si  vous plait [ tramslates : if you will]. BTW i have TWO 16hp Rigid vacuum cleaners . .. always think big [ i have hard wood floors and tile ,  none the less throught my house / most of my rooms are 20'x20'. i down sized .. had 13 GSDs last year .. i don't expect anyone to be as outlandish as myself. the only problem : my firends get very veryvery  comfortable driving with me and being in the house knowing they have 12 GSDs watching ... I have males and females show and working lines [ had malinios at one time in the group too ] . some of ny dogs are not neutered and spayed . my SV judge from Germany was amazedwhen he visited .. he said they don't fight ?? --my comment .. i won't allow it !! [ although .. one cannot always fight mother anture when it comes to intact dogs !!].
