When I got my boy at 4 months, he had been fed RC, and he had an ear infection and ate a lot of dirt when he was outside. I had to be vigilent in watching him or he'd eat rocks as well. I also didn't like the feel of his coat, and it wasn't as shiny as I thought it should be. Within 2 days I had decided to change his diet and did a lot of research before cooking all his food for him. The cooked diet was working well, but after a month or so I switched to a raw diet. On raw, his stools are tiny with almost no odor. He completely stopped eating rocks and dirt and after blowing coat, his new coat is coming in thick and shiny and feels great.
I am convinced raw is the way to go. I raise grass fed beef and slaughtered a calf just for Chase. He is working his way through a whole calf including the skull, eyeballs, organs, hooves, and tongue. The only part he doesn't eat is the hide. He also gets catfish, chicken quarters, lamb, and bites of whatever I'm eating. :)
