For the record. The breed in the UK as exhibited under KC rules is the GSD (Alsatian). As I was brought up in the 50/60's
era I call my dogs Alsatians as many did at that time. This does not mean that I do not like the animal refered to as GSD
to the contrary there are many continental dogs mostly working that I believe have retained type. I also beieve that any breeding stock should be subject to health tests in full and that the relivant hip score should be reduced to total 15 and elbows only 0&1 in an attemp to seek improvement. What i will never except is the roach back as no one has ever put forward in my opinion a reasonable argument for it's introduction. Please look at the Siegers 50/60/early 70's and tell me they do not look a better overall animal than some that we see in the majority today. I am not stuck in the past. I want to improve the breed. But I see no reason to follow fashion for the sake of recognition. I believe that the BOB had good sound movement and that I aplaud, but I think that the inclusion of a picture of this dog in the owners web site which has a clearly altered backline speaks volumes of the lenghts some people will go to for recognition of being seen as correct.

John... show me just about ANY breed that looks the same as it did 40 - 50 years ago!

Elmo is a VA dog!  I have seen a photograph of your dog on another thread, so I understand WHY you wouldn't like Elmo but are you suggesting that he's only been judged on this photograph?  Wake up, man and stop this nasty bitching!  Elmo and many others are fit to be shown world wide... not a "problem" you'll have.

I've seen a photograph of your dog on another thread, but basic civility prevents me from giving my opinion, you'd do well to follow suit.

OMG. Looks like grown up version of his pup called Merlin, same muzzle, forward placed shoulder, deep chest, overlong proportions and weak pasterns.
