I'm very proud of my Gucci Grandson. I had the pleasure and privilege to double handle Triumps Gucci at the last Sieger Show he participated in . A GREAT dog in all aspects.

Thanks Lida,

Randy

He looks really good Randy,  Of course he was so young when I saw him,  He has "turned out" very nicely...and you really did  a great job running...That was a fun time..Thanks,  Lida

My Gucci granddaughter has TONS of drive and absolutly incredible focus that I'll put up against ANY working line.  Just ask those that have seen it and worked her. She has done exceptionally well in the show ring also and is finishing up her Sch titling. She is absolutly Gucci type in all areas.

Really????  Excuse me but that's a pretty strong claim.  Got any video that demonstrates she is the equal to any working line dog when it comes to focus and drive?

by eichenluft on 15 January 2011 - 17:01

what does "finishing up" her schh titling" mean - the dog has BH and AD titles only?

nice looking dog, but I would also have to see a video to show a show-line female that stacks up to "any" working line dog in focus and drive - and bitework too?

And before anyone assumes I am show-line bashing.  I am not.  I have a 100% showline dog who is truly exceptional FOR A SHOW LINE DOG) in the work, including drives and temperament and gripwork too.  He will compete against working-line dogs and do very well!  He is still a show-line dog, and so no I will not claim him to be "better" in the work, drives or temperament - but he will do very well and people will notice him for a show-line dog who is exceptional in the work (and good looking too).

I also enjoy crossing show females with my working-line males.  Puppies are beautiful, drivey, with great nerves and temperament.  What more could you ask for?  Especially for people just starting out in Schutzhund, or people who want a beautiful dog to do other dog sports with and enjoy their dog and the sport.  So far the few show X working crosses I have done have been nothing but "great" IMO.

And though I never knew him personally and haven't ever met one of  his progeny or grandchildren in person or watched them work - I did see Gucci at his last SS in Carson City.  He was 9 years old I believe.  He was in perfect condition and I would never have guessed his age - and he obviously enjoyed not only the showing but the protection test - he did great especially for a dog his age.  I was certainly impressed with him.

Are there any titled Gucci sons in this country, on the east coast or hereabouts, available for breeding (and watching work in person or on video)?

lol funny how you working line people go bonkers on topics like this!
Just so you know, I own BOTH working and show lines. I appreciate them both for their strengths and try to improve on their weakness. I trained for 4 years at one of the most well known "working line" schutzhund clubs in the USA under World Team members.  I saw both ends of the scale in both working and show lines. Mostly working lines of course. Guess what? There are working lines that don't work! OMG! lol... as well as show lines that do.  So, I do have some solid background to make that statement on my own. BUT as I stated above, she has been worked and complimented by work and show people. Including  Steve House, Louis Velasquez, and others ( I don't know their names) who have asked to work her because of what they see. Russ Osburn saw her obedience focus and was very impressed also. Although we were at Nationals (as spectators) and he did not have a chance to work her because he was in judge apprentice duties at that time.  The focus is not just a temporary thing, it is 100% of her waking hours. If there is not a toy, ball or sleeve she will FIND something. Stick, twig, blade of grass, weed etc., bring it and shove it at you. If ignored she will put it on the ground stare at it until you move it. Only taking quick glimpses at you occasionally.  This focus will/can last for hours with the only breaks- to carry it around and back to you.  You best be using your foot to move it off the ground or you will come up fingerless, if she's not held back with a collar. Although she will give it to you out of her mouth as her training has taught her.

I don't own a video camera. Wish I did, I would be happy to supply video.  We will get some from Germany when she is finished. I want her finished by a professional because she has the potential to be exceptional in all areas.

Until then, you can believe or not.  Really doesn't matter to me at all. I don't waste my time with biased narrow minded people.

Molly,
I know you have a very nice show male. I did not say BETTER than working lines. I said "I'll put up against any working line" That does not say she is better, it says she stands right up with them.  She only recently turned 2. Unfortunately I don't have all the time it takes to finish her.

I was sitting beside you, Molly, when you were watching Gucci, and I was the one who told you he was 9yrs old. I don't know if Lida and Russ have video of Kaluv or not. Lida can probably answer that better than I. I would be willing to come and visit or have you over if you would like to see Vogue's drive and focus! Just say the word.
Debby
