VomMarischal, I'm sorry to hear that.  Is she in good health, aside from the tumor?  Don't lose hope--Remember, 50% of mammary cancers are benign, and 6 years old is still a relatively young dog...

FWIW, the path report came back on the tumor in my girl's eye, and surprisingly it turned out to be a primary adenocarcinoma, not a metastases of the mammary adenocarcinoma, so the removal of the eye (and hence the tumor) is considered curative for that particular condition.  Don't know if that means the alternative treatment I've had her on since March 2009 is of any benefit or not, but it will be two years this March since the mammary carcinoma was diagnosed, and one year since lesions were seen in the lungs, but as of October it looked like there had been no change for the worse on the x-rays, and she still isn't showing any signs of pulmonary or cardiac function compromise, so I'll be continuing the treatment indefinitely.  It hasn't done her any harm, of that I'm sure.

Will keep your girl in my thoughts, and hopefully this has a good outcome for you both.
