Good post and I agree it's not a problem WL's are immune to.

How much does the flying trot help the Police K9 in tracking a suspect, narcotics K9, SAR dogs, therapy dogs.
The only time i would be happy to have WL's excepted in the showring is when they change the conformation criteria/judging of the dogs.

You were very clear. On most occasions, a breeder will dabble in a WL/SL cross. Of the on a lark and will use their fine dog/dam and some other dog of the other line that they deem suitable, and often picked with little real research as to what is all the dog brings to the table… But, when you put together top shelf examples of WL and SL’s as it would happen on either line, the results tend to be dogs with looks, character, temperament and drives that will hold their own on either line and not look completely out of place.
The majority of the examples that I brought you are from just one dog’s progeny which is Metin vom Stadtfeld and his father Etzel and grandfather Major vom Phoenix. I’m certain there are more of these dogs out there that are not being bred for sport or ring, but for other markets such as the PPD where you want a dog that is capable but does not overtly look the part of a protection dog.
For the breeders to breed these dogs, several things must/could happen. The SV must remove the color scheme issue from conformation competition and allow the Black, Grey and Sables to compete on equal footing. A couple of additional tests should be added. The old temperament test should be brought back and maybe an agility/obstacle test such as this one http://www.apd.army.mil/jw2/xmldemo/p190_12/p190_12f3_1.png , with the addition of a 6’ wall, could be implemented to balance out the scoring. The idea not being so much that SL’s or WL’s become like the other, but for them to become like the dogs were in the 1970’s and before much like Wanko von der Maaraue (as recently as 1978) and his son Bojar de Lupis Fidis (and father of Troll, Toro and Tino vom Korbelbach).
And a very nice female it is. If you notice, Paternal Great Grandad is VA-4 Enzo von Buchhorn, your linebreeding of Cordon an-sat (who goes back to VA-1 Alf vom Nordfelsen) and then you have Bambi Algrad who goes back to a significant VA-1 SL called Ajax vom Haus Dexel, another VA1 by the name of Mutz aus der kuckstrasse and 1964 DDR Sieger Greif Vom Felstein, so as you can see, your dog has some significant showline roots. What ensured that conformation was not compromised was the choice of the male with Enzo v B and Cordon. Cordon Genetics are nothing if not a reflection of the showline dogs from whence he sprang.
Actually, it is your bitch’s father the one who is a SL/WL cross and even he, goes back to some very nice SL’s. And you are right that it was a well thought out breeding as we see the injection of Showlines and Workinglines of better than average quality throughout the pedigree.
Well, if we were to adhere to that rote, then you’d be breeding sheep-herding dogs and not sport, police or military dogs. Things change and the same ideas that made the Martin Brothers change the SL standard, is now more of a ballast than a benefit to the breed. The fact that it is being done, and by good breeders, and with some success, should be a portent of things to come. You need to open your mind a little more to the possibilities.

Until they require it, the breeders won't breed to the requirement.

I must admit though, we don't train for the 6ft wall so i may never really know if some of his progeny would clear it or not.
