Sadly there will be no puppy from this dog for me. I have always had great dogs from peoples who’s pets had babies. This the first time I tried to buy one from someone who is a breeder, and before the puppies were born. It didn’t work out well though. Tips ? Advice ?

One thing I would never do is put a deposit on a puppy before the pregnancy has actually been confirmed, unless I know the breeder personally. It's too easy for someone you don't know to claim a breeding has taken place, take your deposit money, and then say the breeding didn't take and you'll have to wait for the next one. That kind of stringing along can go on for quite a while, too.
I also won't put a deposit on a pup unless that deposit is FULLY refundable in the event that there aren't enough puppies born, or there isn't a pup that matches what I've told the breeder I'm looking for--if I want a female, and the litter is all males, then my deposit should be refunded unless I choose to wait for another litter from that breeder.

The pregnancy was confirmed and the dog was flown to the US pregnant…but the dog only had one puppy and she was like a premie even though she was full term. I did not know the breeder, though they seemed like very nice, experienced people..it wound up being a deeply disturbing experience…
They are refunding my deposit with no problem.. though I am disappointed to have to wait more time on a puppy, I feel like I dodged a bullet… so I guess it’s for the best.
I appreciate your advice. I have decided to get a puppy now from someone my daughter has known for over 10 years. She used to train her pit bull dogs with them.

I will either get one from their next litter due in August or wait until their first litter in the 2022. Thanks again

your new choice of breeder appears to be on a whole different level from your original choice. seem to be very serious dog folks and probably some serious dogs.
good luck,
Rik

The 1st breeding that you had put a deposit on were Show line and it appears they were Imported...The 2nd breeding that your gonna get a puppy from are Working Line...
I hope you've done your research and understand what the differences are so you will know what your getting...and it seems this breeding has been done in the U.S. which would be one reason why they're not as expensive...

By the way...You were very smart in checking in here...there are a lot of very experienced people here and are willing to help you with things you might want to know...

you do not want a high drive competition dog (and neither have I ever). these breeders seem very experienced and should be able to help you make a good choice. just tell them exactly what your expectations are.
IMO, you made one jump from kids little league to the pros in dog type, so you missed all that experience in between. :) so yea, some of what folks say here might be a little confusing.
ask all the questions you want. someone here has been there, done that.
best wishes,
Rik
