Rico looks like he is a happy, beautiful and fun companion. Thanks for sharing!

Disregard the utterly rude remark from a prior poster!

Rico does have unusual looks for the typical GSD, so his pedigree would be interesting to see. I myself, have no problem loving or appreciating as a non-breeding pet, the unexpected results that is the GSD gene pool and is caused by the diversity of the founding dogs that were used from the very beginning.

Your terv, Freddie is also quite a looker! I don't think I have seen very many tervs around, if ever! Looks to be a grand and healthy senior!

Rico may be non standard but he is a very happy, healthy, confident pup with a fabulous bombproof temperament and good drives. To me this is much more important than colour looks, especially as I don't like the show line looks. He is my 4th GSD and will be doing working trials, he is a companion and will never be bred and is much loved.
Freddie was a very successful show dog in his youth, his biggest success was 1st special Junior Terv male at Crufts in 2006. He also is happy, healthy old man with an amazing temperament.
When if ever the " standard" GSD returns to the dog it used be I will choose health and temperament first. I have seen far to many windy bad temperaments,, with ridiculous over angulations roach back dogs dragging their bums around the championship showring. I quite frankly couldn't watch them, very sad.

Lynda - my Terv was 2 points shy (failed tracking-my fault) of getting his schutzhund 1. He was a super neat dog - smart, dedicated, even-tempered, was fastidious and easy to take anywhere! He wasn't the strongest (hardness) dog but he tried his best in protection and actually did well in the trial. I miss him to this day, he was my faithful companion and fishing partner. The only thing about him that I didn't like was that he would roll in stinky dead fish carcases if given the chance, lol!

If you could post the pedigree that would be great or parents names perhaps. Im familiar with the DDR line.

oops...posted to wrong thread! ☺️

Interesting. Gigante's Jerry Lee has a striking and familiar look, as your Rico. Not exact, but something .....

Both of your dogs are gorgeous! I'm no expert but Rico looks like all GSD to me in the posted photos.

I won't give pedigree as I promised breeders I wouldn't as his colour was a embarrassment to them. No one wanted him. But "no good dog is a bad colour" in my opinion. I can tell you he goes back to Lord Vom Gleisdreick though.
