Mirasmom, Wish I was a little closer to your vet.I'm northern Maine and its about a 9 to 10 hour trip one way.I have been searching for a vet that takes GOOD xrays.I understand a vet up north does penn hip.I personally don't know much about penn hip.I am looking for a vet that does do digital.This boy's prelimbs came back mild.I have had enough breeders and vet tell me poor quality,bad positioning.So for now plenty of swimming and you can see his weight look good.He is weighing in around 86 lbs. now.
Oh and yes he is very smart. If i have a ball my boy just goes crazy.When we are outside he is always by my side.

He is related to a couple of my dogs also .
I will say this, "the energizer bunny has got nothing on my girl".
I really can't understand when people say such nonsense like the showline shepherds are beautiful, and the working line are "ugly".
I have seen some drop-dead Gorgeous working dogs.

Again thanks for the kind words.His temperment is great we did alot of socializing.When we are in a store he really doesn't pay much attention to anyone.Some people will ask if they can pet him which he doesn't mind and then you have these people that walk around us.lol They say his looks and size very intimidating.When we go to the vets most of the time 2 to 3 dogs in the waiting room at the sametime.They are all barking and growling and my boy just sitting or laying there looking at me as to say why are they so noisey.Most of the time the other owners compliment on  how well behaved and calm he can be.
